re: If LSU loses the series vs UGA, there’s no guarantee they host a regional.

Yeah I’d say we need 2/3 this week and 1 SECt win for a top8 If we lose the series we need to make the final if not win it.
What are you basing that on? They will be Top 8 in the RPI with 1/3. Who do you think is going to pass them and why would the SECT make that much of a difference?

Your first attempt at this was removed. So, you double down on it?
We are a lovm to host a regional. Super, on the other hand, would be a different story. We may not host if we lost this series.

The hay is in the barn after this weekend. The SECT will have ZERO impact. Good or bad.
LSU is a top 16 seed, at worst, even if they lose 2 of 3 to UGA. The top 8 seed is the only thing in potential question because I think the committee will only give the SEC 4 of the top 8 seeds. With 5 teams in contention for those 4 spots (Arkansas, Vandy, LSU, Florida, South Carolina) someone will be left out. The other 4 face quality opponents this weekend, so it would behoove LSU to not lose another series to a cellar-dweller

We’re not getting a National seed with 3 straight series losses and no SECt wins

It would definitely depend how Vandy and SC do in their series. It’s not like they’re closing the season strong either. SC has lost 3 straight series (2-7) and 4 of 5. Unless they sweep or LSU gets swept, I don’t see them passing LSU.
Likewise Vandy has lost 5 of their last 6 SEC games and 3 of their last 4 series. If they win the series against Arkansas, it would be a toss up who is seeded higher. They’d be 1/2 game ahead of LSU if they take 2/3 and LSU loses 2/3, but LSU would still likely be ahead in RPI.

Maybe not, but there have to be viable candidates to replace them. SC has lost 3 series in a row and 4 of 5. Vandy has lost 5 of their last 6 conference games and 3 of their last 4 series.

Would it be conceivable to sneak in to 8? If all the right dominoes fall.
If we don’t win this series we’ll be sweating selection day.

Vandy boys have 2 of their best pitchers down this week.

LSU could get swept this weekend and not win a game in Hoover and they would still 100% host a regional.
But I’d really like to see you show your work on this one.

we need to either win this series or go 1-2 with a win in hoover to be national seed

You should stop saying this. It's inaccurate and stupid. And didn't you start this same thread last night and have it whacked?

It is a must win series.
Lowly Georgia just got swept by the 3rd to last place SEC this past weekend.

I agree that if they don’t win the series they’ll have to worry about the thought processes of the selection committee, but I’d describe the nature of the situation exactly opposite of what you are saying. Someone else would need to sneak into the Top 8 and a lot would have to fall into place unfavorable to LSU for them to fall out.
Right now, LSU is likely sitting at a #4 seed. 5 teams are going to have to pass them by. I don’t see that many candidates to do so. SC and Vandy are limping in as well and are behind LSU in both RPI and conference standings with tough series this weekend. Stanford and W Virginia are major conference leaders, but they are #16 and #17 in RPI. Coastal Carolina has a lower RPI and only a 33-17 record. There are 4 ACC schools between #8 and #13 in the RPI all of whom have worse conference records and worse overall records than LSU. Indiana St and DBU are #14 and #15 in the RPI but they have very poor Quad 1 records. I can see Vandy, Stanford and one ACC team potentially jumping LSU, but I’m struggling to see 2 other teams who could jump them.
