No season is a wasted season. This new playoff era has certainly changed a lot of mindsets that focus on NOTHING but playoffs. Enjoy the season, period.

I don’t mean to be negative but the year isn’t going as we expected. And we are struggling against very cupcake teams so far.

It could be turned around but this would take immense effort and growth.

Let me save you the trouble. They won’t be making the playoffs this year.

What are the lottery numbers? There’s not a team on this schedule we can’t beat. We will be 4-1 going into a home game against Ole Miss after a bye. If we win that then look out

Absolutely. Lowering below that expectation is not allowed.

We are LSU for fricks sake and we pay plenty to coaches and allocate funds to support the expectation.

If we don’t start filling gaps, taking the correct angles, and tackling people very soon our playoff hopes are over I’m afraid.

It could still be a successful season on the whole but the defense is not playoff caliber at the moment.

I don't know what a "wasted season" means

You could say last year was a “wasted season”, but we had some entertaining games & watched a QB win the Heisman

I don’t think young guys like Stamps or Weeks or A. Anderson would call it “wasted”.

A 9-3 season would be disappointing, but it would feel like we made some progress on defense

Per Will Campbell " 10 win seasons at LSU gets you fired".

People need to quit reading into this he’s literally talking about all the people who got fired after their 10-3 season last year.

Nobody is getting fired for going 10-2 & getting into the playoffs

On the offensive side of the ball.

The defense is improved but still really poor.

fricking crazy typing that as an LSU fan but here we are.

this considered a wasted season of potential and not living up to the hype.
this team was considered to be a team in the first four or five left out of the playoff. What hype are you referring to?

I feel like the expectations to make a 12 team playoff should be expectation.

I feel like LSU should be able to be a top 15 top 10 every year.
With the recruiting the way it is and the transfer portal it should be the expectations.

Would a 9-3 season next year be a wasted season by not making the CF playoffs now that it has expanded?

We have alot of talent coming in but we lose almost everyone on the OLine, possibly the QB and a few WR.

Do you see us better next than this year?
I know that is hard to answer but we lose a lot on offense.

none of these guarantee a spot in the playoffs

I assure that team and coaches feel the same way

but if they don't make the playoffs, I still don't see how the season was a "waste"

a "wasted" season IMO is something like Florida where they have a dead man walking coach and will lose half their team to the portal next year

10-2 might not even not get you in the playoffs. I doubt they will ever take more than 4 from the SEC after we beat each other up.
