If LSU doesn't make the playoffs this year is this a wasted season?

Yes or no?

If so give reasons why and if not give reasons why.

Depends on how we close out the year and how competitive we are. A little too early to tell. Currently we are not a play off team, so I just want to see consistent improvement

I don't know what a "wasted season" means

it would be a disappointment, as that should be the expectation every year

doesn't mean that we will make it every year and when we don't, doesn't mean we should fire the coach

Most not all but most were expecting us to lose a couple games but still make the playoffs.
So is this considered a wasted season of potential and not living up to the hype.
Or are we getting the most out of our talent on the current roster.

If we finish top-20, but out, then I think it's a fine season with the D we have.

If we finish outside the top-25, and we look bad at the end of the season, then I think many more people will have Kelly on the hot seat in '25.

Personally, I think he's done a great job thus far considering the absolute dumpster fire he inherited. Recruiting has been stellar the last couple of years, so hopefully some of these guys come in, along with better portal guys, and we make the playoffs next year.

expecting us to lose a couple of games and still expecting us to make the playoffs doesn't make much sense

could we make the playoffs while losing a couple of games? sure

but it certainly shouldn't be expected

Let me save you the trouble. They won’t be making the playoffs this year.

You are going to have to give an explanation on what you are considering a “wasted season”

It’s year 3 for a 100million dollar coach at LSU and a 12 team playoff. Not making it is a wasted year

We do have great talent coming in next year but we also lose almost the entire OLine, possibly the QB, a couple of WR.
Those freshman coming in will take some time to develop.
In your opinion do you think next year will be a contender next year or will it be 26' or 27 when those freshman have experience?

Many who say no will likely point to the influx in talent in 25 and 26 (assuming everyone signs). While that's not wrong, the excuse next year will be our youth. Kelly has not figured out how to maximize the portal to ensure we have talent and experience across the roster. Until he does I don't think we'll sniff the playoffs.

Depends on who comes back, transfers, etc.

In todays CFB, that is an impossible question to answer with how you can turn over a roster year to year.

Agreed.

If any of us were forking out $10mil/ year would you be happy with the current results?

By year 3 of most jobs you should be competent and fair amount of success. BK has shown neither really.

We can’t get off the field without multiple penalties, blown coverages, lack of discipline and all around knowledge of a successful unit so far.

Don’t get me started on the penalties and discipline. The disconcerting signals shite is just unbelievable really.

This whole ‘playing for the last game’ is bullshite. Enjoy the season…enjoy every game…that is the season. Bowl games are bullshite usually. Enjoy hosting UCLA, going on the road in the SEC…
