Yep, pretty awful time management by Saban.

Yes. I would have been annoyed if Les had done that.

Not calling a time out two plays before the FG was dumb. I won't fault McCarron for scrambling like he did. He had a wide open field and had a legit chance for a TD.

The point is this: Miles has made headlines over the years (consistently) for bs like this. Saban has not. If Saban continually manages time poorly and it costs him games, then he will catch flak for it as well.

The difference is Les is at home and Saban earned the right to be in the game

Sure they would ... there's a very vocal portion of the fanbase that will never accept Miles, no matter how many titles he wins.

Those people would be drowned out by the rest of the fan base if Les was a half away from playing for his 3rd title in 4 years.

Worst clock management I have ever seen. No tricky situation to manage. Simply 3 time outs left and watching clock go from 24 to 14 and hanging onto all 3.

No brainer. You call TO.

Worse than anything Miles ever did. Was simply idiotic.

Yeah, I'm calling bs on that one. Miles lost a game because of it on a spiked ball with 1 second left. Saban lost 4 points because if his "blunder" (which I still think isn't that bad).

The spike play was a bang bang fast paced thing that happens from time to time. Like I said - this is so simple - just take a TO - you have all day to think, discuss and decide. But you really dont need to think. 3 TOs 24 sec. Take a TO. A pop warner coach would get it right every time. Not the same on the spike play. Pros mess that up.

I'm not saying it wasn't stupid, but I don't think it's worse than anything Miles has done.

Let me ask you this, if his not calling a timeout had worked and they scored a TD, would it still be poor management? If so, then a lot of Miles' wins that were won on gambles would be considered terrible calls that just happened to work out.

And I'd also argue the spike play wasn't bang bang. You clearly see 1 second on the clock, you don't spike the ball. Seems simple enough to me.

I get your point, but there's no defending the fact that it was bad clock management. Saban knows it.

Good because it was an awful coaching mistake.
