Meaning lack of sec championship(s)/ appearances, multiple 8/9 win seasons, consistency issues (which he has historically had)…then what?

How is everyone going to react. I only ask because for many people here it’s him and only him and anyone else is going to be a bust in their eyes.

If Kiffin can’t do it here after succeeding at Ole Miss than no one will ever succeed at LSU.

Dude is about as much of a lock as you can get.

BK didnt get fired for just losing which keeps getting lost in this story. Going 9-3 was not his downfall in itself had they been closer games.

The games we lost though we would have lost 10 times out of 10 times if given the opportunity

We had a lot of fun as LSU football fans over the past quarter century. Unfortunately, NIL has changed the game and I see LSU wandering in the wilderness for about a decade going forward.

That’s a great opinion, but… I don’t think it’s as much a guarantee as everybody wants it to be. You’re still playing in the SEC. You’re adding another conference game every year. And historically he has had a tendency to make questionable decisions at times that have been costly. Throw in a volatile political atmosphere here and a much less tolerant fan base than Ole Miss… That’s a recipe for revolt an issue in a short period of time. That’s all I’m saying.

I'm pretty sure Kiffin, like all potential coaches, is a little hesitant watching LSU frick Brian Kelly out of his buyout money. If he's gonna leave Ole Miss for LSU, Kiffin would be smart to just ask for all the buyout money up front. As would any potential coach - just in case the governor gets any meddling ideas.

I think there’s actually less chance of this happening than him coming here…

Dumb take. If anything, it would just incentivize them to write a better contract. No HC worth their weight in salt is going to pass on an opportunity because of BK underperforming here

If Kiffin can’t do it here after succeeding at Ole Miss

Is what he did at Ole Miss going to be "doing it" here?

In 5 seasons (completed, 2020-2024):
Minimum 2-3 losses per year
Zero SEC Championship Game appearances
Zero SEC Championships
Zero CFP appearances
Multiple 5-loss seasons
1-2 record vs the "dumpster fire" LSU program left in CoachO's wake under "garbage" Brian Kelly's rebuilding efforts

This year is yet to be determined, but anything beyond about 10-2 and a trip to the Peach Bowl would be an anomaly for him. His performance in general is about what Kelly delivered before this season (other than Kelly going 9-3 and winning the West in his first "rebuilding" year compared to Kiffin going 5-5 in his first year; but that was the zombie-COVID year, so it's easy to discount that as the biggest anomaly ever).

I'm not predicting failure for Kiffin, and if we hire him I hope he does great. But reading the tea leaves, I believe he's going to have a contract AT LEAST as good (for him) as the one we gave Brian Kelly, whether it's at LSU, Ole Miss, Florida, or somewhere else. And I, personally, don't believe that contract is worth getting the kind of results he has delivered at Ole Miss (BK's results certainly weren't worth that kind of contract). IMO, to be worth that kind of contract, he would have to deliver MUCH better results than he has so far. Maybe he will, maybe he won't. But I fail to see how anyone can conclude he is anything remotely approaching a "lock" to deliver something he never has before in almost a decade of Power conference football coaching.

Insert any coach and the same will occur. We will be ready for someone else.

There are no guarantees for any coach we are going to get.

Why not go with a coach that is at the top of his game, one of the best on offense in the past 10 years, attracts good portal players and is trending upward.

If Kiffin was here and we were two wins away from a playoff birth, would we think we made a bad decision?

I couldn’t agree more. I think Kiffin is a very risky hire. He could be truly great at LSU. Or he could be another Ed O/Brian Kelly type failure. He’s not a “lock”.

Not inconceivable but Florida can't compete with LSU or even Ole Miss with $$$.

And he doesn't have the recruiting advantage there (not being only P5 school in state) that LSU has.

Yall will probably shite on our next coach no matter who it with 12 to 18 months from now and won’t stop till we force him to get fired to early. Turning us into a mediocre program. Keep shitting on everyone and we will see where we end up
