There are no can’t miss hires.
That doesn’t mean you stick with what’s clearly not working (unless you locked yourself into a terrible contract and can’t afford to end it)

You care to name the schools with more titles than us in this century? The list isn't very long.
Alabama.
That's it.
LSU is 12th all time in wins. Here's a look at a few of the schools with more all time wins:
Michigan has 2 titles since 1948
Notre Dame has 0 in the last 37 years.
USC hasn't been relevant in 20 years.
Oklahoma has 1 title in the last 40 years.
Texas has 1 title in the last 55 years.
Penn State last title was 40 years ago.
Nebraska hasn't been relevant this century.
Tennesse has 1 title in the last 59 years, and it was 28 years ago.
The only schools with better accolades than LSU this century are Alabama and Ohio State, with UGA and Clemson being better over the last 10 or so years.

Bama
Boise State
Oklahoma
UGA
Clemson
LSU

Kelly's contract includes a mitigation clause, which means if we fire him and he gets another gig, we can subtract some portion of his new salary from the guaranteed buyout.
Another question to consider, if LSU fired Kelly, how likely is he to find another job? if highly likely, why not pull the trigger?

I am with you on this. I like Sumrall. Did a hell of job with Troy 24-3 and now with Tulane. Definitely somebody to keep an eye on. I like Key from GT as well. I am not saying he is a homerun hire but who the hell is. Very intriguing though.

You realize he makes almost as much as Kelly per year and if they make the playoffs OM is going to give him a raise to around 12 million per year.
