If JD declared then Walker would 100% remain at LSU. CBK made a huge mistake by taking JD back for another year

Yeah I’m sure he would have stayed if he had to backup Nuss for 2 years….instead of backing up Nuss for two years.

What does it matter? If yall say he wouldn't be here 5 years, you really think he'd be here 4 years?

All of you expect the next QB to be Nuss, and him to start for 2 years. In the end it doesn't matter about Daniels, but so many of you literally hate Daniels, that you can't see through a simple concept of Howard not staying til his 4th year either.

And he'll probably transfer after next year.

No. I think Howard wants to be in the fast track to start.

If Daniels left, the job is Nussmeier's by default. Despite the great praise he's getting on this board, I don't think Nussmeier goes pro after 2023 (as a redshirt soph, with only one year as a starter), he's back for at least 2024.

Howard would not want to wait until 2025 to get his shot, just my own opinion. So he'd leave anyway, no later than spring. Likely still now, to get a head start at his new program. Which would have left us with 1 experienced QB (a guy with not a lot of experience).

Saban would give both nuts for daniels at Bama next year. Bama would instantly go to favorites to win it all.

Do you think that it changes his direction at all with the NCAA declaring that they are further tightening the reigns on multiple transfer waivers starting next season? They say that they intend to dissuade transfers for lack of playing time. I guess that means that his decision needs to be the right one.

Its coach Brian Kelly’s job to field the best football team and get the best players available right now. Daniels gives us the best chance to win right now. If Walker Howard wants to transfer because he is going to be scout team because of that, then that is completely 100% his decision. Lets look at who does plan on playing for LSU and support those guys.

I say yes. And we would be in a great place for the next few years with him and Nuss

While I agree with "If JD5 would have declared for the draft, Howard would have stayed?"

I do not agree that we are in a worse place now.

Sorry, but a kid who backs out of a QB competition 700+ days away from when it begins is not someone I think is irreplaceable. He may be talented and he very well may have great success but compete, lose and then transfer. Don't transfer out of the fear of losing a competition that hasn't even begun.

Thats all I need to see from a QB to tell me he's not the guy I want.

This is the part that leads me to believe this decision is a mistake on Howard’s part. He gets only one shot at finding the right situation to earn a starting spot. He’d be much better served waiting until he’s actually ready to start and either winning the spot here or moving somewhere he’s guaranteed to start immediately. Now he’s left with the unknown of how quickly he will develop relative to the other QB prospects wherever he goes (and any other QBs they bring in in the meantime.)

God you people are so insufferably stupid. Yeah, LSU would actually be BETTER losing an experienced, winning QB who is on every shortlist of the best QBs in college football.

Yes, but don’t tell the people on here who keep crowing “it’s not about daniels!!!”

Milroe has been moved on from, according to people in the know about that QB situation, Milroe is not expected to compete for a starting job next season

Milroe played in relief of Young for a game, started and played a full game, and would have started another if Young wasn’t back. And you want to talk about Saban’s motivations like you know something? He trusted a QB who was extremely limited throwing the football to win him two games at a point in the season when they were still fully expected to be a playoff team over anyone else he had.

You can say what you want to try and cover- you were talking out of your arse and we all know it. You probably didn’t even know who Milroe was before that fricking post.

And as has already been said, there is no comparison between Daniels and Milroe as passers. Even with his limitations, Daniels runs rings around him. Not even close.

This is exactly right. It baffles me that people think he would be willing to wait around for 2-3 years behind Nuss when he wasn’t even willing to wait out next season.

Agreed. There was no way LSU was keeping Nuss and Howard. Nuss is far ahead, and Howard knows he’d could be a backup for the next three years. That’s the real reason Howard is leaving.

Yes, move on. It is incredibly stupid to even think Coach Kelly would tell a QB like JD to leave because some true FR feels threatened. Ask yourself, has that ever happened before and does it make sense that a coach would EVER ask a high caliber starter like JD to leave when he wants to come back for his final season?

We should be grateful when a star QB wants to play his final season and not go pro early. No one should resent JD because Walker Howard is either impatient, doesn't want to compete, or has an over-inflated opinion of himself.

A lot on tRant are wildly overestimating JD and Nuss ability at QB. This is just one example.

JD is an average running QB that needs a lot of work on his throwing. Nuss is still unknown and untested as a starting QB.

Yet, people here are talking Heisman for JD5 and Nuss starting at LSU 24 & 25.
