Not only do I think numbers shouldn't be retired in football because of the amount of players but I think they should bring 20 back.

If given a vote.... this place would vote to have #7 and #18 retired. But then what would grown men that probably never played at the major college level cry about then, LOLOLOLOL!!

I think all of the Heisman Trophy winners should have there number retired. If JD5 wins the HT then yes. But Joe Burrow would have to be first. Then JD.

I agree. Number 20 could be a new special number handed out to the player that most exhibits felonious behavior.

Not sure why we haven't already done this for Joe / Billy

Billy does have a statue outside the stadium. And Joe should have had one in the works the moment the clock hit triple zeroes in the superdome

21- Jerry Stoval, no national championship, runner-up for Heisnan, only player in LSU history to be named a unanimous All-American (1962), be selected to the college football hall of fame (2010), be selected as a first round pick (1963), and to be selected to the pro bowl (1966, 1967, and 1969).
I had forgotten they retired Stoval's. I always think of that as Hilliard's number!

No MNC, maybe a Heisman, may not even be a unanimous All American.. I say statue, but the #5 not retired. If they wouldn't retire #3 for all that Faulk did and has done for LSU, I dont think JD would be deserving of such. He's an amazing player, but just not enough for such an honor IMO

Did you also forget that Noah Cain is No. 21 this season? Stoval's number is NOT retired. It's recognized in the stadium, but not retired. Neither is Cassanova's No. 37.

To answer the OP, No, I don't think Daniel's number should be retired. However, if he wins the Heisman, it should be recognized like the others (Burrow's will eventually) and there should be a statue outside the stadium like Cannon's (and eventually, Burrow).

Heisman winners deserves statues. He did something special that only 2 other players have done at this university. It's crazy to think we may have our 2nd heisman winner in 4 years.

This is the only football number that has been retired in the true sense of the word.

They didn’t retire Stovall’s number, they retired his jersey. Big Difference

No, but Burrows should, due to the NC. They also should have a statue of him.

He should be put up in the Stadium Ring of Honor.

Kevin Faulk should be next.
