If he can hit anything like his dad, he will never go to college. MLB pays high schoolers that can hit wayyy more now than in the 90’s

Like Eddie, his kid can always go back to get an education after baseball. There is a limited window for him to be drafted by MLB or play baseball generally. I don’t think wanting an education has a huge impact on his decision.

Yes, whether we agree with it or not you can tell from class and roster makeup that Mainieri has never really recruited players that were known to be limited to 1B before even arriving on campus, especially after the bats changed.
I don’t know if or how hard they went after Furniss but there aren’t many examples of players like him being signed in the last 10 years, regardless of who the recruiting coordinator was.
