this is what I’m saying. There is no need to drag this out. There has been 4 years to evaluate and decide. If it needs to happen it needs to happen asap so the coaching search can begin and players can know and make decisions accordingly. If it starts to drag out that means it’s not happening, in my opinion. But I’m also not convinced that LSU cares enough to bite the bullet and make the change.

Ahh the life cycle of a ranter is coming back into play.

Stage 1- Fire the coach now. Why hasn't it happened? Since it hasn't happened yet, it means it will never happen.

Step 2- (Immediately after firing) Why didn't we have a plan in place? We will never get (enter ranter group thinks selected coaches name). It shouldn't take this long to hire a coach. This search was run terribly.

Step 3- (After new coaches first loss) Fire that MFer!!!!

I agree he doesn't have to be tarmacd and embarrassed but he sure has been an embarrassment for Tiger basketball fans!

The only embarrassment is the contract and the the process that brought him to LSU. He by all accounts is a solid guy that is simply not good enough to coach LSU to success in the SEC. There's a long list of coaches that are successful where they are that this is true of. His value to LSU right now is that he will keep working and presenting best he can despite the shite situation and knowing there is a solid chance he won't be here next year while LSU talks to candidates and works on getting them here.

No.

Assuming they're going to fire him, there is no rush to do so immediately. Other coaches that we would want are going to be coaching in the tourney.
There's no sense in creating speculation or be in a situation where we have to poach our next guy from a program still playing. In fact, you can almost bet that prospective candidates would want to not create a spectacle or distraction from their current team.

If they're making a change, Verge has a short list. Contacts would have been discretely made through back channels etc.

Just let it play out.

LSU apparently learned from that knee jerk “firing” of CBK.

Actually his record is fricking embarrassing. This is the second trying hard is the bare minimum expectation. I’m not saying he needed to be tarmacd.

He should have been told his duties are done after the reg season and would be allowed to coach sec tourny.

That would be the respectful thing to do instead of letting him twist in the wind.

If Verge doesn't give a statement supporting McMahon Tomorrow then I think he is gone.

If McMahon is fired today, I would not be shocked. If he is not, I would not be shocked.

If he fired in two weeks, I would not be shocked. If he is not, I would not be shocked.

If he is still here on tax day, I do not expect him to be fired until after next season.

He's not getting fired. We just overhauled an entire FB program.

We're broke.

Yea if MM is still here on April 2nd I’d say we now know that LSU doesn’t care about MBB which is ridiculous considering it’s the only other sport that can consistently bring a profit besides football. Also even more insane as we pump money into the black hole that is WBB

I'd go as far as April 7th, the day after the Champs are crowned.

Now THAT is how you simp

A true McMan among us. Don’t forget to wipe your chin

ETA He’ll get a job somewhere else and still be able to impact lives numbnuts. We don’t have to continue to let him embarrass our MBB program for that to happen. That’s the biggest impact he’s had during his tenure here

Do you not remember the BK ordeal? The AD can’t just swoop in and terminate a coach. It takes Board approval

Just like it takes board approval to hire the coach which is usually a formality. BK was done the moment Woodward fired him. Board members knew about it. No one tried to reverse the decision. The board approval thing was only bc LSU tried to retroactively threaten him with being fired for cause saying he hadn’t actually been fired yet. It was ridiculous.

BK sucks and needed to go. But the aftermath of his firing was handled like teenagers handle breakups.

If Verge wants McMahhon gone and the funds are there, he’s gone. He will tell the board president and it will be fine. The thing we need to be prepared for, is that the funds aren’t there this year making it possible MM gets another year whether we like it or not.

They’ll find the money if they want to fire him. You can’t finish dead last in the conference in year 4 and live to tell about it. Especially when you haven’t sniffed the tournament in 4 years.

Finishing 14th or worse 3/4 years doesn’t work at any program that has any semblance of standards.

Honestly we could probably notify the board with a email and they all just sign off.

Not enough fans care. That is the issue. Where is the money for the buyout, new coach and players if the money is there he will be fired

Man these aren't even close to the same situations. They've known for months now that this was coming unlike BK being fired on the spot after a couple bad losses

BK went from safe to fired in the span of two games where we've known McMahon has been done since last year

They absolutely could fire him today with zero issue if they wanted

Agreed, though I'm not only thinking of NC State. I would not be surprised if we have some sort of verbal agreement with a coach or their agent before we even fire McMahon. If that is a coach who manages to stay in the tournament until the finals, we may delay to avoid any type of media circus like the one that surrounded the Kiffin hire.
