I've said it before, I can deal with all the other inconveniences. It's the sound system that makes the stadium experience downright unpleasant. The constant rap music and the thudding bass that's so loud it's painful.

TV determines the time of kickoff as well as the length of the game.
Decades ago LSU catered to the fans. Playing at night allowed working folks, farmers of self employed, to attend games. It was also cooler in the hot humid Louisiana climate.
Now its TV.

It’s the loud freaking rap music after every play that is running a lot of people out of the stadium.

We were up by 10 with 3 mins left. I'll stay for a one score game.

night games are overrated unless I’m watching at home.
Agreed. I feel like LSU gets that reputation because people mainly pay attention to huge games, and people just signed off on Tiger Stadium at night being an “experience like no other”, but I’ve been to other away games with fewer people leaving, even the blowout in Tuscaloosa 2 years ago.
The fact is LSU comes up short compared to a lot of schools. Which is annoying but, it’s just the way it is.
Even when I was a kid my family would leave early unless it was a really close game. Which bit us in the arse against Houston that year in the 90s, but otherwise god the traffic is so damn bad.

The atmosphere provided to the fans once inside the stadium sucks. The choppy flow of the game thanks to tv timeouts and relays extending the game to 4 plus hours is miserable. The prices and subsequent quality of the concessions is atrocious. The trashy arse fans chanting STTDB after every song the band plays and sometimes just randomly bothers many people, and now the prices of tickets pushing out fans for corporations all contribute.

To the 20 year olds, you either know what you don’t know or don’t know what you don’t know about Death Valley in the past. Bc this version is weak and a lessor version of how fun and loud the stadium was, all coming from the fans and the band. We didn’t need piped in music and light shows to be equally as loud. Way more fun to be all in

More people would stay if we didn't have 3 minute, 50 second commercial breaks four times per quarter. Greed has made the live experience miserable compared to what it once was.

I left early because there was another shooting a block away from my tailgate

Tailgating has taken priority over the game. People are tired by game time. My first night game in Tiger Stadium was the game against Florida State when I was a kid 1980 or 81’. With the win- LSU was going to the Orange Bowl. Watching Dalton Hilliard that night….oranges flying everywhere at the end. I’ll never forget it. AFTER the game, my daddy took us out to eat. I miss that experience. Today, people have to be entertained - flashing lights, piped in music….. and people still leave early.

My idea to keep butts in the seats. Scan tickets on the way out. Provide a discount to any season ticket holder that stays. You could easily keep track. The hard part would be deciding how to measure the discount. Conference games vs non conference. Stay until 2 minute warning. All of the ways I’ve thought off to scam the system could be addressed with a few caveats.

Dude, I stay until the end of every game. When the game is over, I leave the stadium, go straight to my truck and head home. Saturday’s game was a 6:45 kickoff and I was home at 1:30am. I live in Natchitoches.
People have left games early for as long as I can remember. It’s mostly people that sit in the west lower bowl. They are also the last ones getting into the stadium. Students left early Saturday night because it was Homecoming & again they have done that for years.
We can’t have morning kickoffs because it’s too early. We can’t have afternoon kickoffs because it’s too hot. We can’t have night games because you get home too late. The food in the stadium sucks. The piped in music sucks.
We get the privilege to go to Tiger Stadium 7 times per year. If you want to complain about any of the above, don’t buy tickets. There is NOTHING better than spending a Saturday on campus & going to Tiger Stadium to watch LSU play.

Not true. The LSU fanbase has become complete pussies that bitch constantly and look for any excuse to leave early.

But these “7pm” kickoffs where the first snap isn’t actually until like 7:25pm is a bit much.
Which games kicked off after 7 PM this year?
quote:
Then you add in the classic 4 hour ABC commercial-ridden broadcast
Which games went 4 hours this year?
Spoiler: The answer is “none” to both.

+ contra flow and you are looking at not getting back to your house until midnight. And that is assuming you live in BR and not coming from Nola or Laffy.
