We can carpool em to Houston morning of, pack some hammy Sammies abd Capri Suns and get back here right after.

Next year we are eyeing the MSY bowl, get some real value out of that one.

Wanting Miles to step aside for a worthy replacement does not equate to 'hating'. Hyperbole much?

And you still are clueless on the financials/politics.

I know there is an added incentive to participating in a bowl game, but I dont know exactly how much $$ it is

Over Bowden's final 5 years, he lost 5, 6, 6, 4 and 6 games. Not to mention he was pushing 80 years old.

After losing in the 2000 BCS Championship, in the proceeding 4 seasons Bowden's teams lost a total 15 games.

After losing the 2011 BCS Championship, in the proceeding 4 seasons Miles's teams have lost 14 games with 1 left to play.

Are you prepared to endure 6-loss years soon as the game continues to pass Miles up in the way it passed Bowden up?

No one who's not in Florida or Georgia wants to go to Jacksonville. Why would us being 9-3 make them pick us over Georgia?

By the OP's logic, we shouldn't play any road games.

How many years in a row can you expect Bama, Auburn, & Florida to come to Tiger Stadium?

Alexander was clear when he said that the issue wasn't a dollars and cents issue, but was rather a political issue. He has to make arguments in the legislature to improve funding for LSU, which is his job (even if you think he sucks at it). He is right; the buyout would have made his lobbying more difficult. That's the cost of supporting a public school's football team.

If you don't like it, then go root for Notre Dame, Southern Cal or Northwestern.

We get it, you don't like Les Miles. But it is his fault LSU is going bowling, so I guess you can blame him for that.

The proceeding 4 seasons after he lost the BCS Championship he lost 13 games, but did have 2 top 10 finishes and 2 conference championships nonetheless. Neither of which Les has accomplished.

and Switzer

Won his conference every year, finished in the top 5 or 10, and never lost more than 2 games in every season from 73-88 with the exception of 81-83 and 88 where he was 2nd in the conference with 3-4 losses. Not sure what your point is here...

I know the bowl money is divided up by the SEC in some way. Is it only teams that go to a bowl that participate in that division? In any case it would probably violate some SEC rult in this age of money to pass up a bowl.

Don't use recruiting as an excuse for the Houston area. You don't remember the #1 player in the country Russell Shepard?

I agree OP. The logic demands F.King to cancel the bowl game. I don't see why he doesn't also take over the coaching reins too, since that would save money that isn't his anyway.

The benefits in practice and recruiting could translate to monetary gain next season from ticket sales, tv contracts, etc.

The same monetary gain could be said of hiring a coach that can win championships.

It is very misleading to say that LSU loses money on it's bowl.

There are 14 SEC teams. So, LSU does divide it's bowl payout from the Houston Bowl 15 ways. Technically, if you subtract school expenses from 1/15th of payout from Texas Bowl, you may lose money.

However, what is conveniently left out is that LSU also gets a 1/15 interest from all of the other bowls the SEC participates in. So, LSU makes a huge amount of money on it's bowl contract. In fact, it makes millions on it's SEC bowl contract payout.

It makes for an interesting story to say LSU is losing money on going to Texas Bowl but, it is very inaccurate.
