I Really Enjoy Listening To Coach Kiffin Speak

I always enjoy listening to great coaches speak, but there is something about Coach Kiffin that is just super intriguing to me. I look forward to listening to his press conferences because I always feel like I walk away with some kind of nugget that I can apply to my own life.
And it is so awesome that he is challenging his coaches to get in shape. That’s leading by example. I love it. As a player, I just didn’t have the same respect for a coach that was fat and out of shape as opposed to the ones that stayed disciplined.

It’s very difficult for me not to get absolutely consumed by his hand mannerisms.

Lol. Well I’m usually listening on headphones while walking, so I don’t really watch him speak. But I’m sure I won’t be able to unsee it now if I do watch :)

COMING SOON!
Life coaching by Lane Kiffin!
I hope he does a good job coaching LSUs football team. But, the day I am getting “nuggets for my own life” from Lane Kiffin’s press conference (or any football coach) it’s time for me to take a step back, and reevaluate some things.

Saban 2.0 (in regards to hand motions, very similar) along with message delivered.

"Aramark concessions in Tiger Stadium" threads are longer than the post game football threads.
Rant Fat Asses obsess on what they stuff their faces with during the game.

You’re absolutely right. I’ve been obsessed with this quote from his Tuesday presser since hearing it, bodes very well for the fighting tiger LSU football team under his guidance, but also in respect to myself leading a team of professionals, it’s been eye opening.
The concept of environment as a strategy, and how people don't "buy-in" more than they 'belong':
• The fastest way to change behavior isn't motivation, it's environment. Leadership is about creating the conditions where people feel safe, valued, and inspired. When the environment is right, performance doesn't need to be forced; it's unlocked.
People don't commit to a job, they commit to a feeling. If your environment makes them feel like they belong, they'll want to show up.
If it makes them feel managed, they'll only show up when they have to.
The trajectory of a team is set long before the results show up. It's shaped in the culture you tolerate, the standards you reinforce, and the environment you DESIGN every single day

Having spent over 2 decades now in positions of increasing organizational leadership, I can tell you that there are many books by coaches that have some great insights on how to lead effectively and manage organizations.
You don’t become successful by accident—in any field—and even coaches you don’t admire overall still have things they do very well.

That’s all true.
However, my comment was not directed at a leadership book written by a coach, but rather “life nuggets” from a press conference.
In my younger years, I was heavily influenced by football coaches that taught us more about being good men, than they did about football.
Those influences revolve around personal relationships, not one line quips from a press conference, given by a man you’ve never met.
*insert inspirational Facebook quote here* LOL

Yes. Especially in comparison to our bumbling buffoon.

Well, that explains the Coaching Changes rumor that Kiffin was looking to add Brice Brown to the staff was pure bullshite:

That is the one thing I’ll never enjoy. It’s torture. And he seems equally tortured doing it. His posture and body language resembles the 8 year old being scolded by the teacher.
