I became a thoroughly and completely devoted LSU fan in 1988. I have watched a steady and seemingly unstoppable decline in the football program since 2011. I cannot bring myself to believe that I am in the "vocal minority" that's bitching just to bitch. Nay, instead, I believe I am in the concerned majority that actually remembers the bad times, and really doesn't want to go there again.

I graduated from LSU in the 90s. Fell in love with em in the 80s. Celebrated the last decade and a half though Saban and Miles.

THIS is an absolute return to the good ole boy days and the people that defend it fall into a couple categories too-

1- you would have to be a good ole boy and probably mostly have acquired things the good ole boy way.
2- you have zero perspective regarding LSU and maybe Louisiana in terms of how this reeks of politics
3- you have an accent and that’s mostly what matters to you

I appreciate the feedback. Seriously, I didn't consider that. I am very young and don't have much to go by in the grand scheme. I still stick with my original stance that we should give it another year, but I can see how those who have lived through more may feel differently.

So because we were mediocre for so many years, that makes it okay for fans to drop their expectations after being a contender for a decade? Sorry id like the keep that momentum instead of going back to irrelevancy. You have such a beta bitch mentality

wow I didn't think people actually used that word in a serious way. That's actually a little sad. I'm sorry.

I stopped reading here. This was not a rebuild. This program was ready to compete. Don’t feed me BS about “These things take time.” Heck, that was one of the points DP made in The Binder & then was sold to the fan base.

We fired the last guy because 10 wins weren't enough.

Now we're looking at 8 being an achievement

Your first two statements lead me to believe you are part of the problem. We don't have to accept middle of the pack SEC. Do I expect Bama success, hell no- but I do expect to compete every year for tops in the west come Bama game.

This is so absurd. So, because LSU was a bad program it’s okay to continue to decline from being better? What in the heck man?

LSU never recruited back then like they do once established..

O IS NOT QUALIFIED to be HC here whatsoever. Literally no other school would hire him as HC and every single fan base would bitch and moan if he was their HC.

It is what it is.. and it’s all on Alleva. He is the guy to truly loathe here. He let petty emotions lead him to this and he’s POS for other reasons.

Have a nice day though.

I can tell you from being someone who didn’t rush to judgment on O and knowing a lot of people who felt the same that the minority you speak of has grown substantially. Hell I’d put Os approval rating at about 60% right now and that’s really low for an LSU head football coach.

Odysseus,
You make several good points. There are a few holes in your logic.

Overall, I appreciate you trying to persuade ranters to relax a bit and give this coming season a chance.
I agree with you about this 1000%.
But it won't happen.

In the back of my mind, I'm praying that we slaughter Miami and wreck the SEC with a surprise offensive surge. We all know defense will be up to the task....

Will we sneak up and whip arse this season? I really hope so, but the chances are not goid, my friend.

Keep your chin up. I respect your honesty.

I accept mediocrity out of the football programs leadership, and I don't think it's worth anyone's time to discuss how to improve it.

quote:

NOBODY is always good. Not Bama, not Michigan, Not Ohio State, or any other blue blood program, and newsflash; LSU isn't a blue blood. It's on the fringe, sure, but no more of a blue blood than Penn State or Clemson

1) Bama is always good
2) we're not close to the same level as any of these programs right now.
3) the way you get to their level is by having top notch coaches and AD leadership.

If you TRULY feel disgusted with the program hop off the bandwagon.

So if you don't like how something you pump money/time in to is handled then you should just leave instead of trying to make your voice heard to fix it? You sound like you have absolutely zero fortitude in life.

Why can't you and others like you figure out that we can be vocal about the leadership and still support the players and program.
