Youve never seen a real fake punt in your life. Madden games don't count

I think I agree. I don't blame the punter.

Mixing things up is a great thing. Element of surprise keeps the defense wondering what might be next. This decreases their focus on the "predictable". You have to spend money to make money.

That’s the design of the play. He’s supposed to act like he’s blocking, then release. ZVR overthrew him, plain and simple.

That's not what I'm talking about. After the release, it seems like he slowed up too early.

I had a feeling something was on before the punt. Awesome play with the fake down the middle, don't think I've ever seen one like that. But thought punting and having them deep we might get a big turnover. Oh well I guess some of ole Les rubbed off on O.

Im not sure he slowed down much, think the throw was bad. Looks like the angle of his route was supposed to take him more towards the sideline and he adjusted based on where the ball was going

Dumb call considering they had a punt safe defense

Yet if he doesn't overthrow him it works. Tell me again how it was dumb. Dummy.

I didnt mind the fake punt. I just didnt like us having the punter try a jump pass with so much on the line.

Problem is the fake came when our defense was getting run on pretty bad. Risking a short field at that point was risky as hell...

Defense held up, but at the time, they werent

I didn’t like it in a 14-10 defensive battle on the road. I would have punted and pinned Auburn. They scored off of the short field.

Is it an awful call? No, but I didn’t like it right there.

That could be it also. The returner was closing fast, too.

It just seemed like he slowed down when he started tracking the ball.

Either way, I'm cool with taking chances, especially from that field position.

Yeah, those poor guys were struggling. From that standpoint I see where you're coming from. But that play wasn't horribly far off from working.

How's that sweet baby girl?

I agree with the OP. Good call but there’s a reason ZVR is a punter

You do realize ZVR was drafted as a pitcher out of high school? And yes I realize throwing a baseball is not the same as a football

I have no problem with a call to try to make something happen. Risky, yes. Just poor execution. The decision to run the fake rest with O. Takes courage to make the call, much less in an Auburn game.

I liked the call. Didnt really get the jumping aspect of throwing the pass. Couldve set his feet and thrown a much better pass and Moreau catches it for a big gain

Dont like the call at all. Put the defense in a bad position. With LSUs defense you pin them deep and force them to punt.

Nailed it, it could have cost us the game. Since it did not O isn’t some village idiot.

If it works, O is a genius. Welcome to the world of being a coach.
