re: I know we want multiple WR sets and all that, but O is right. We really aren't there yet.

Coaching! In the game against Arkansas I was sure Les was coaching LSU!

well then you should know that bamas offense hasn't become prolific until Tua took over.

Saban's first year at Bama his offense was ranked 65th. He followed that up with 35th and 21st ranked offenses.

O's interim year he finished with the 69th ranked offense. He followed this up with the 76th offense in 17 and he currently holds the 86th ranked offense.

So as he is getting more and more of his recruits in our offense is getting worse. I don't think it's just the OL.

quote:

"James is a great addition to our staff," coach Ed Orgeron said in a release. "I worked with coach Cregg at both Tennessee and Southern Cal so I know firsthand the type coach he is and how he serves as a mentor to his players. He's an outstanding recruiter that is going to develop our players both on and off the field. He will be a tremendous person to have in our program."

Cregg is O's hire. He can barely have our OL face the right direction but O knows from experience just how great he is. Same with the asinine claims that Steve is the best OC in the country, he just wanted to be a TE coach on a horrible offense that never threw to TE's (and still doesn't).

I don't know why it's so hard to agree. This team needs a new OC and a new OL coach. If O has any hope of succeeding he must raise the quality there and adapt his philosophy, just like other good coaches do. And yes, we need better players on the OL on top of better coaching to develop the guys already on the roster. Kardell Thomas should be first team All SEC no later than his JR year. We will see what O does with him.

Arkansas scored after 3 defensive backs went down with injuries.

and they're much worse than WV

WV may have the best QB in CFB this year and the type of offense that can give Aranda's D fits

how did La Tech score? UF?

So LSU runs play action passes that take time to develop and you are saying it isn't the scheme?

We don't try! We throw 2-3 passes a game that are further than 10 yards. We don't attempt to stretch the field. It's a joke

Yes this is a process to be sure. There is much to be done starting with Moffitt. Our oline is made for road grader run blocking and not for pass blocking espically out of the spread. This suited Miles just fine. They can't move laterally because they aren't athletic in that regard. It starts with footwork which ain't happening at this point. We MUST put the highest priority on evolving these linemen into leaner, stronger, and more athletic linemen with an attitude. Nobody wants to say it but it starts with Moffitt or hopefully whoever takes his place. Without this, we can expect the same floundering oline trying to execute pass blocking in general much less the spread. This isn't new folks but it's not brought up and apparently LSU is blind to this important issue.

most of our fans don't get it. They truly believe we can just go 4-5 wides and throw quick passes...to them that is the scheme that will work and can be run at any time

It's the Offensive Coaching Staffs JOB to find ways to attack a defense with what you have.

Technique is imperative and all you need to do is watch how teams like Bama do it. Everybody has a job and you have to do that job.

We have athletes at RB, WR and TE. It's a BS narrative and one LSU has used far too fricking long.

Burrow had two QBH recorded and was sacked 3 times on 24 drop backs.

You talk about moving laterally, but we have much more trouble with DL coming straight up the middle.

NO ITS ALL SCHEME - O SUCKS, E SUCKS, Fire everyone! He lied to us!

The fact of the matter is with the current turnstile of an o line, it wouldn’t matter if we were calling more quick throws or not. The d line is just jumping into throwing lanes and batting balls down. Not to mention Joe doesn’t exactly have a quick release or the ability to move quickly inside the pocket.

I guess that you're satisfied with the talent along the offensive line.

Satisfied? No, I'm just not buying into, nor am I promoting, the narrative like you are.

at least the finally tried using shotgun

that should be the only formation we use until we have a better O line, even "dumb" coaches know that, but somehow we dont

LSU will beat the hell out of WV. How would they score? LSU'S defense would shut them down. The offense could score 21 and win the game.

For fricks sake, you are legitimately retarded. WVU would be the second best offense we’ve faced all season. They would certainly put up points.

We only have one player who has been able to contribute YAC, and that's Jefferson. I'm not sure a short passing game would succeed with the lack of speed we have on offense.

Wow...our offensive players just keep getting worse and worse according to some of you. First the o line, then JB is overrated, then our receivers are too slow. What's next in the it's not the OC it's the players bag of excuses?

We seriously cannot do anything with this offensive line. Nothing at all.

Utter bullshite.

You can move the pocket around. Have you seen us run a single rollout?

You can stop putting burrow under center making it harder to read the defense while dropping.

You can stop giving Burrow just 2 options to pass to.

Stop running deep pass plays with just 2 wr options.

AND FOR GODS SAKE TEACH THIS TEAM HOW TO RUN A GOD DAMN SCREEN PLAY

yep. no speed. dillon is slow, no size, anderson and sullivan are too small. no young talent, JJ, chase and marshall are terrible, giles sucked at texas tech

gotta love it! they tow the line. how i wish we had this WR talent(young and more experienced, size and speed) and burrow this year with MAtt. oh man.
