Palmer would still be running if that hit him in stride. We missed on 3 TD’s easily.

When we start calling passes only able to be caught with one hand drops then we have an unrealistic expectation on what should be caught is…..and a strange stance of not criticizing the QB at all. Let’s face it Brennan’s injury was a huge loss.

This is where Brady is missed. Again. This shows lack of focus and attention to detail.

I know we are all expecting the qb to be perfect, but Johnson was hit in the chest all night long, and on the play where he badly missed Palmer, we had a slow play action fake and a free rusher running right at Johnson.

It’s not so easy to make accurate throws with unblocked defenders running full speed at you.

It's the same issue that we saw last year with Brennan. The defense can't hit you after the ball is gone. The important thing to protect himself is to be much quicker at identifying the open man and getting the ball out.

Max, like most of the team especially the HC is in over his head.

It's a whole lot easier when you have an offensive line that can pass block. Tigers will look great next week and for two more games. No guarantees though.

Announcers were saying it last night as well, how strong his arm is and how he can make every throw on the field.

4 of those “drops” were because of late or poor throws by the QB. Boutte was open for 20 yards before a late throw that allowed defenders to hit him and get their hands on the ball. Late throw caused Jenkins to get hit and drop one on the sideline. Late and under thrown ball caused one to Bech. Late poorly thrown ball to Palmer cost is a TD. The WRs were fine, the QB wasn’t.

This fact surprised me……everything we’ve been told is that he has a big arm….stronger than Brennan…..I’m not sure why he didn’t show it last night. I’m guessing because what we’ve been told is BS.

Who the frick told you that?

You could tell last year he struggled throwing down the field

His ceiling is not that high

Nuss needs to gets lots of reps the next 2 weeks

Both of the drops in the end zone were bad throws as well. Jenkins drop on the sidelines was one of the only ones I can remember where it was actually a decent throw.

It's the Brandon Harris definition of a drop all over again. If a 6'4" receiver stretched out and got a fingertip on or near the ball it was a "drop".

I don’t know. Aside from Max sailing some throws it also seemed like some of his throws took an extra tic to get there which led to some breakups that should have been completions. His accuracy needs to improve as well. I’m not trying to crap on the kid. The whole offense needs to improve a bunch. It wasn’t just drops. I don’t even want to talk about the defense.

Yea whoever said Max has a stronger arm than Brennan must be a Brennan hater. One of Brennan’s criticisms is that he needs to develop some touch on his short throws. Brennan has a cannon. It will be a shame if we don’t get to see him start more games for LSU in the future

Christ, Brennan’s arm is and has always bent stronger than burrow , etling, Johnson, Jennings , Jefferson maybe.

Brennan has a cannon and lightning release.
That dude got his qbs mixed up or something

The passing was not accurate which caused many of the drops. I don't blame Max. He was running for his life most of the time. Truth.

Max has made some throws that showed arm strength last year but they were deep out type routes. He had more time to throw then and had his feet set

I’ll say it again . Jenkins btjr Palmer and boutte are an above average group. Chill on the wr hate they are fine.

We just couldn’t pick up there blitzes and max wasn’t able to set his feet

Sometimes we forget how young these guys are. Max has only had a few starts. When you have a young qb you have to protect him or he will be inconsistent. I think one of his best throws was on a third down when he kinda rolled to his right and dipped in order to avoid a sack and threw a perfectly placed pass on a out route. It stood out to me because his feet were not set and he delivered the pass as on target as you could ask for. All those throws that were sailing high reminded me of Trevor Lawrence in the title game against LSU. We didn't allow him to get comfortable and that is what UCLA did to Max.
