I know a 2nd year in the system would improve with Leavitt

But if what Ruffino said is true that he will get $7 million for another year then I say absolutely not. For $7 million you should be able to find a much better player. Go steal Kamario Taylor from Starkville. We should have went after Mensah from the start after Chambliss wasn’t coming.

I don’t like the $7M figure but there is definitely a benefit to having a QB going into his 2nd year of a system (as long as he’s healthy in the offseason) vs having another 1st year guy

Next year is set up nicely for us schedule wise and having the expanded playoff and championship in the superdome

Leavitt is how old and still cannot settle down?

Let's go get someone else for that $$$

Wish we could use some of that money to beg Trey’Dez to come back but Lane will, and should as his coach, tell him it’s best for him to go pro and get his money. He’s going to be hard to replace.

What’s crazy is the trend has been a letdown in returning quarterbacks the last couple years

Klubnick
Arch
Lagway
Mateer
Nuss
Marcell Reed
Drew Aller

All those guys were preseason Heisman hopefuls that regressed with multiple years in the system.

not just a given that every quarterback will take a huge leap

I see a bunch of pretenders in that list.

As nice as Kamario Taylor is.. do you really want to get another hurt QB and risk him missing spring. Turf Toe ain’t nothing to play with and it lingers. Id be more interested in the Oregon State QB or even Deuce Wallace

QB doesnt matter if the O line doesn’t get fixed.

Seaton and Moore are both gone I believe and the rest of the line would have to improve dramatically to be just considered bad.

I’ll take Leavitt next year if possible. Corral and Dart looked pretty good in year two. I don’t know how much he gets, but I’d rather roll with Sam with a year in the system than someone new.

Correct.

Especially given that Leavitt wasn't significantly better in year 2 at ASU (pre injury)

Jaxon Dart wasn’t all that impressive when n his first year as a starter if I recall. Was thinking about that this a.m. when reflecting on Leavitt not seeming up for the big spots yesterday.

Good for the players; however, it is crazy how much they are making to not even be that good.

Hey I would love for Sam to come back and take that step like Joe and Jayden did but he just doesn’t have that level feel to me but I guess the going rate for college QB is really now in the $3-10 mil range unless you are Michigan paying Underwood. We probably lose Underwood though, especially with Pop coming in.
