NOT GOOD....

He wasn’t doing a very good job of concealing if someone saw it.

Louisiana is an open carry state. That means Malik could’ve worn the gun visibly on his side and he wouldn’t have gotten arrested.
The problem is that open carry is far more dangerous than concealed carry bc others can grab the gun out of the open carry holster, and you’d better be well trained in weapon retention to prevent that.
With 25 years in LE, I can tell you that concealed carry permit requirements are all about generating money, and thankfully more and more states are repealing them (including mine). In all my time in LE, I always carried concealed off duty because it’s just safer.
When I worked in LE, my dept never arrested anyone for only carrying concealed without a permit. That was just the probable cause needed to search the vehicle when they had illegal drugs, etc. Thats how this stuff really works.
But CCP requirements are unconstitutional in my opinion and they lead ppl to carry openly which is much more dangerous.

We should be very cautious how we handle this.
If we are too firm with Malik, he can just transfer portal out of the program.
Maybe we just offer in the future to have a “walk on” bring a gun to him on demand if he needs it.
This way he doesn’t need to catch a charge again and we can be more accommodating to him at the same time!

The charge will be dropped. If it wasn’t Mardi Gras, 0% chance they’d even arrest him for this in NOLA. BK just has to say it is being handled internally and move on.

Obvious joke ….maybe Latoya will show up to his court appearance.
Real life….how would this board view this scenario if this was their kid? I would be angry for my son not having a permit. But ultimately, would fight this for the BS it is.

You should add “I’ve written posts on tigerdroppings that confirm I am in fact an a-hole” to your resume.

How do you think being in NOLA without a gun is a good idea?

Pretty sure the problem here is you can’t carry a gun at a parade. Even if have CCW permit.

He was arrested in the FQ not on a parade route.
He's lucky he wasn't caught in a bar with the gun.
