frick that. It's 1. Wade. Then somebody other than MM. The only way I accept MM is if I get some promises from Verge that they're avoiding the buyout but will be one of the top 3 in NIL spending in the conference forever.

So LSU is too poor/frugal to pay the buyout...but is going to significantly increase the NIL funding for a coach that has never showed he can compete, at all, in this league?

The foundation on my house is crumbling. The entire right half of my house is sinking into the ground. But instead of biting the bullet and spending the money to fix the foundation, I think I will pay a fortune to remodel all of the bathrooms and construct an opulent second story.

I thought by now we would have heard something one way or the other. I’m in the camp that there is no way they can bring him back and they will make Wade tell them no .

I just don’t think he’d leave NC State for LSU after he got run out of town. Plus his wife is from Charlotte, so they’re within driving distance of home. At NC State, MBB is #1. It’s not all black and white to me. Just my opinion. For the record, I do hope he comes back. Firing him was a big mistake.

I'm not saying he's definitely coming back, but if he doesn't come back, it won't be for this.

The people who "ran him out" were themselves run out of town (Woodward and Tate). The people in charge of LSU now (including the AD that hired him at McNeese coming over later this year) are very loyal to him. Plus, the gap between SEC and ACC revenue is significant and getting bigger every year.

Maybe you don't but some of us have a pretty good idea. Does it mean situations won't change? Of course not, all of the information people have today is subject to change.

The biggest factor in the choice between JUST LSU and NC state is where these schools will be in regard to the amount of TV revenue each will get within the next half dozen years.

I seriously don't see any scenario where LSU IS NOT making 5 to 10 times the amount of NC state is in their respective conference distributions.

That factor alone is GIGANTIC.

The LSU athletic department is fine letting the men’s basketball program rot. They’re fine letting the rest of the SEC get better & better while we keep this self-sabotage going. What a shame.

Outside of Wade, what mid-major coach will bring excitement and big-time donor support for this program?

We blew it with Bucky Ball last year and now he has Texas A&M in the tourney. We have to remember that McMahon was a successful mid-major coach like Wade was previously just we didn't hit on him. Unless we target someone we know beyond a shadow of a doubt will do that outside of Wade, we push all our chips in on Wade NOW before he becomes entrenched at NC State for good, see what he says, then regroup if no and play the long game for someone down the pike.

Agreed, my question is who else, other than Wade and at the mid-major level, could we realistically hire that would generate the fan excitement and big donor support that Wade can? We already went to the well in 22 for McMahon as his replacement and McMahon was a successful mid-major coach like Wade was previously, just we clearly didn't hit on him like Alabama hit on Oats. Maybe Bill Armstrong at McNeese but this is only his first year as a head coach.

In retrospect and frick Scott Woodward, we had the most golden of opportunities LAST YEAR when both Wade and Bucky McMillan emerged as P5 candidates and Fat Scott stuck with his pick after another horrible season.

What if Wade comes to LSU with a long term expensive contract then bombs? Who will everyone dream about then?

Initially? No one.

But that doesn't mean a new mid-major hire couldn't quickly generate excitement. LSU fans are looking for ANYONE who can provides some hope. That could take as little as a firey press conference like Wade had when he was first hired.

Armstrong was fired along with Wade and although he's been good this year at McNeese, no one would look upon that as all that big of a deal. The thought would be that he just maintained what Wade started. So if that is the case, why not just shell out the money to hire the guy who actually made the big turnaround?

A similar discussion was had in 2017. One name discussed a candidate was Matt McCall. He succeeded Wade at UT Chattanooga and maintained the success Wade started before leaving for VCU. The thought was if you are going to consider the successor (McCall) then why not just hire the guy who led the turnaround (Wade). McCall got hired by UMass, tanked, and to my knowledge is out of coaching.

Well considering he didn’t bomb in his previous years at LSU I’d say that’s highly unlikely.

Considering he’s never had a losing season as a head coach and has his team’s in year 1 significantly improved compared to previous dumpster fire seasons coupled with the fact he performed 5 years in a row at LSU with 4 tournament appearances, what would lead you to believe he’d do anything but succeed here? You have an apples to apples comparison of success. How can you get more sure fire slam dunk than already proving it at that specific place prior?

So who would those be? I know Hodgson's out there and highly thought of by Alabama fans but the Syracuse job just came open and he's from western NY. Eric Olen perhaps since he's from Mobile? Luke Murray maybe despite no HC experience but he is Bill Murray's son? Furman's head coach - he's from New Orleans?

What if Sydney Sweeney came over to your house, stripped down naked, and you said "nah, I'll pass."

Wade at LSU is about as sure of a bet as there can be.

I’m just trying to figure out how you arrived at the conclusion that not liking basketball makes a person racist

Can you unpack that for me??

How could any sane person not agree with that statement?

If you are totally insane and don't agree with that statement, then you are also a day late and a dollar short.
