Of course making this comment I am a "negatiger" in pointing out flaw of his argument

What flaw?

Two SEC championships, 3 west championships, 1 BCS championship and 2 appearances.

Is that not elite performance?

We're going to the Chicken Bowl. Way to go Les! 10 wins means pretty much close to shite in modern college football.

in game adjustments.

This is where we disagree.

Football games are won before kickoff. Toughness, want to, the willingness to compete, mental resilence, these are the things that lead to execution and execution is where football games are won. Lombardi didn't beat you with schemes. The Bear didn't beat you with trickery. Those guys and every great top flight coach beat you by making their teams tougher and by making them better at executing under pressure!

Being able to "execute under pressure" is what separates losers from winners. Great coaches build this trait into their teams before kickoff. The little in game tweaks to scheme that are made are one of the most misunderstood and overrated parts of the game for the casual fan. They hear the announcers say that one team or one coach made "great halftime adjustments" and they fall for it hook line and sinker. Its the biggest bunch of crap that exists when fans talk about the game.

In a long coaching career, there are relatively few games that are swung by game managment or clock management coaching decisions. Its not even an average of one per year. Far more games are decided by one coach making his team better before kickoff...this is what CLM excels at!!

Yes Miles has screwed up a few games with bad choices...just like every coach...and yes I wish he would never miss. I understand however, that the only reason that those games even come down to a tough decision is that Miles' pregame coaching has GOT US THERE!

Wasn't too long after his ousting that fans were calling for the return of Charlie Mac.

Don't you remember those locked rooms you were in when you played. Remember halftime? How many big adjustments did your coach make at halftime?

When you were losing, he mostly ranted and raved about how ya'll weren't playing hard enough and the the other team wanted it more right?

What adjustments are there to be made if the other team is blocking you and you can't block them?

Even if all you ever played was high school you should remember what it was like in your own experience.

lsuexpert like to vaguely hint that he is an ex nfl scout who is not to be challenged on football topics. He actually is a retired electrician from Brusly.

He graded Josh D against Auburn as playing outstanding with only 2 bad plays all game (seriously).

I feel bad for them sometimes. But other times I kind of enjoy watching them wallow in misery. I mean, if they are going to pout and hold their breath anyway, might as well get some enjoyment out of it.

Every playcall is an adjustment to what the other team is doing, every audible is an adjustment to how the defense or offense is lined up, every substitution is an adjustment to the personnel the other team has on the field....

Get a clue. Every snap is an adjustment. Or should be. It's those little attentions to detail that win ball games.

I am not talking simply about halftime, & going into the locker room and drawing on some chalk board. I don't give a shite what brent musberger says to start the 3rd Q "oh lets see the adjustments!!!!"

Blocking and tackling and passing and catching is what wins football games...nothing else!!

And doing those things is a combination of talent and want to. The coach that does the best job of bringing those things together wins the most.

Nick Saban isn't winning at Alabama cuz he has better schemes and manages the game better or manages the clock better or is smarter than everyone else.

He is winning because he is outrecruiting everyone and then taking those recruits and making them mentally and physically tougher than everyone else. He has made plenty of questionable game decisions....he is winning so many games because he has made his team so damn good that it hardly ever is a CLOSE game!!!

so nick saban comes up with schemes to win games, but Bear Bryant & Vince Lombardi didn't. Their teams were just built on toughness!!!!
