re: I don't understand why anyone is upset

I think our problem has been quarterback identification. Miles couldn't recognize a talented qb. Felipe Frank's was supposed to be a big time Mike's get, but he stinks at Florida. I'll give Ed and Steve a couple years before I pass judgement on them.

Dude, Ed Orgeron is our coach and now you’re getting worried?
Burrow was starting, Brennan was backing him up.
So if we got to Lowell we were fricked anyway.
I thought you O lovers weren’t capable of sweating?
Would someone explain to me how Lowell fanboys are the same as posi-tigers/O fanboys? How do these two equal each other in any way? I keep seeing this presumption that those upset about Narcisse transferring are O pumpers.

Spot on bro! I don't care who wants to leave our program, I only care about those who want to be tigers

I just want a real qb coach that can keep and develop a qb... haven’t had that since jimbo.
It's very hard to attract and keep talented QBs when all you have to sell them on is hand-off left, then hand-off right, then toss it behind you...rinse, repeat! What 5 start QB wants to come here just to hand the ball off to _fill_in_the_blank_RB_??? I sure wouldn't; I'd want to go where they throw so I can show my talent to the NFL! That’s why Grant Gunnell went elsewhere.

Dude if you have to play your 3rd string QB regardless if he’s on scholly or a walk-on, you’re fricked anyway

Everyone is complaining for exactly no reason at all. When he stepped on campus the QBs immediately stepped up thier game. That's what good QBs do. They make the others take their game seriously. Burrow was likely going to start anyway. He's much more mature than any of the QBs besides McMillan.
We will need maturity when bullets are flying and the offense needs a real leader. The others aren't ready to be starters. They will transfer only to sit the bench at the next school or be eaten alive. Unless they go to some small school which good luck if they do. We need QBs who have the maturity to understand what's in front of them. Understand where they are and grow. We needed Burrow to win games this year. If we would have started anyone else and had the chance at Burrow then 95% of the fans would be saying how dumb O was for not grabbing him.
I guess I'll just never understand some people. They wanna win yet don't wanna take the chances we need to take to win. If it knocks a bit of rust off, so be it, we'll be better off in the long run anyway. If any starting QB gets hurt just about any team would suffer. It's time to look at what's ahead and not in the past. These guys are in the past now. They made their decision. We'll have Burrow for 2 years and MB for 2 years. That will put our future QBs in the right time frame. I say keep recruiting them and let the fat cut itself. Eventually we'll end up with someone that's decent and knows he needs to actually put time in to develop.

quote:Exactly. It’s more an inability to get a talented QB than to “develop” the ones we have. If Franks had flamed out at LSU then the story would be that we can’t develop QB’s. Can Florida also not develop QB’s?

What exactly has been disrupted?
The snaps his presence takes away from another qb that would normally get those. So yes, by definition, theres a natural disruption of development of others. No 2 ways to slice it...more QBs getting snaps takes away from the others

If LSU loses two QBs, they aren't competing for anything anyway, other than a .500 season. Hell, as it is most people have LSU at 7 or 8 wins, so you think MAYBE losing 2 QBs is this teams biggest problem??

When's the last time we used 3 QBs?

LSU hasn’t DEVELOPED a decent QB since Matt Flynn. And that was 11 years Ago.
Even if you count Jarrett Lee, that’s still 7 years without developing a QB
Have you paid any attention to LSU football since 2011?
I can think of two off the top or my head from 2012-2017 who improved dramatically during their time here.

2008...when the coach kicked the guy who was supposed to start off the team in August.

I'm sure there are lots of 3rd stringers at power 5 schools right now who know more about playing QB than any of our QBs. If they are underclassmen, keep an eye on them. When they can't beat out a freshman in two years, they'll transfer here.
So, instead of trying to improve our coaching staff and recruiting we should just look for kids not good enough to start at other P5 schools? Not sure that sounds like a recipe for success.

we have not had a real QB coach since JIMBEAUX!
Can we please just wait and see what Ensminger does as QB coach before jumping off the cliff? Or is not acting like a woman too much to ask?

Maybe because even Orgeron has said he can’t rememer coaching a team with only 2 scholarship QBs?
Posted on 8/16/18 at 8:48 am to Tigerstark
I wish Brennan was the one transferring.

“What is there to get upset about?”
Is the quarterback position at LSU better off today than what it was a week ago?
There is nothing wrong with not liking anything that weakens a certain position and therefore can easily have a negative impact on the team as a whole.
I don’t get not being able to understand what seems to be a fairly reasonable position to take. I don’t think anyone is saying it’s a terrible event, but it certainly doesn’t make the team better equipped to face an SEC season.

I'm more upset about McMillan transfer. I think that hurts more for this year as he would have been the backup and played if Burrows got hurt
