In fact, I don't recall even seeing play action passes yesterday which makes this offense very predictable.

You weren’t watching the game then.

Because of the 3 the quarter calls. It’s like he closed up the playbook thinking they were going to coast in a win. We got lucky we came back and won that game. I don’t understand why not keep the feet in the gas the whole game. Also running up the middle on the goal line is killing me. I know that’s not all on E.

For me it is that the next play is not already loaded ready to fire under what condition, yds to go, feel, etc. It takes too long to call the next play when things are moving. No flow.

Ensminger takes crap from the idiots on the Rant who know very little about football in general and apparently have their heads in the sand regarding the situation at LSU with its roster. These dumbasses apparently think that LSU losing 14 players to the NFL Draft and 35 players (41%) from last seasons roster doesn’t matter. They think that having 2 Freshman QBs is the same as having Joe Burrow. In their minds all LSU has to do is suit up a guy in the LSU Uniform and he becomes an All-American. LSU had 48 scholarship players availble last night and played a WALK-ON running back at times. These “critics” are ridiculous.

How would 18 burrow look with this scheme and how would Johnson look in SE 18 offense?

Offense hasn’t been the problem this year.

Hell this offense would’ve been a godsend pre-2019.

Neither looked particularly great if we're being honest. Moments of greatness, but overall meh.

Let’s not forget same thing happened against Florida. It’s not one thing, it’s a multitude of things that are continuously repeated. Inability to adjusted, lack of creativity, unable to adjust scheme to players...I can keep going on and on. E is better than what we have had, but as LSU we should strive for Great/Good, not Average at best.

I was critical of him on the first 2 series with predictable play calls with certain personnel in in certain formations. He got a lot better after that and called a good game. Example: Bradford comes in for his first play of the game and they throw a swing pass to him, well, everybody and their brother knew that was coming. It’s about setting up the defense, he should have been a decoy on that play to open up another route or run a draw play. My problem with E is consistency throughout the game that could put teams away and instead they go into lulls and let teams hang around.

why does he need linehan calling 3rd down and red zone?
To me, this is the biggest question regarding Ensminger, and no amount of excuses can make up for it.

3rd down and redzone... these are the most important plays in any drive. If Steve can't call those himself, he's not worthy of being OC.

Look at it this way- would you go for a coach to be head coach, except for conference championships and bowl games?

I hope we keep everyone on this staff moving forward just to see the creativity in excuses people are going to make for them next year.

We beat Florida and Ole Miss and all of a sudden everyone is acting like this coaching staff is all world.

Because his play calling has the sophistication of a high school coach?

Offense hasn't been bad this year despite playing with a lot of very inexperienced people. We are in the top 20 in passing offense and ranked a ahead of some teams people on here think are good offensive programs.

Considering the handicap we had this season, I dont think the offense was bad across the board. In specific times, yes. Overall, nope.

Really?

He didn’t want to be the OC, Ed forced it

His 2018 offensive scheme, play calling and absolute failure to adjust was laughable.

He admitted that he didn’t know how to modernize the offense and needed help.

Brady was the OC in 19, SE didn’t call 90% of plays.

He needs a “PGC” to play wet nurse to him on 3rd down and RZ. Which shows he’s not a good OC.

He failed, again, not being innovative and not being able to make in game adjustments.

I don’t hate or dislike SE, he’s a great LSU Tiger, but he is no where close to being a great offensive mind or play caller. Look at Sark, Lane, Mullen etc and SE isn’t close to them. CEO promised the “best” coordinators...do you really think SE is? If SE was never a Tiger (coach/player) and Ed hired SE, you wouldn’t defend him.

For much of the season, despite LSU’s offense putting up large numbers of points and yards and Brennan having a crazy high completion percentage on 3rd downs, they were one of the worst teams in the SEC for 3rd down conversion rate, red zone td percentage, and yards per carry rushing. They improved somewhat down the stretch, but prior to Max starting, this team simply couldn’t convert in short yardage situations, and always threw short of the sticks on 3rd down.

E catches flak cause he isnt brady

He also catches flak because he cant add anything to the offense

If russ callaway is so great why hasnt he added anything to the offense?
Will they not let him?

Where is the motion?
