It was actually worse because it scored 7 for the other team

Nabors had like 10 yards on the Dbs and he just threw it up. He didn't miss it but it was an easy throw.

He was open, but he threw it beautifully and hit him in stride. Even Daniels underthrew it to the wide open WR on the long one that he threw. It was a really good throw and really the only highlight he had (though he had a few other nice passes).

Aside from a few terrible decisions, I didn't think he looked that bad.

Nuss looked terrible vs Southern. Keep that in mind. That is just bad.

I refuse to believe Brennan was worse than that from what we saw of his (limited) play

He looked okay, not great. But that interception looked terrible. Threw right into double (or was it triple) coverage. Rookie mistake.

I agree with this, unless Brennan was just a shell of the guy we saw in 2020.

Nuss looked like a guy that was trying to win the starting qb job on every play which turned out bad for him. He was looking to make a big play instead of running the offense. When you press like that bad things happen.

Which were better than anything Southern had

2 INTs against Southern is horrible. INT on his second attempt

Against a team that is equivalent of a hs team.

His decision making was terrible, and that makes it pretty clear why JD was made the starter. However, decision making can improve. He is still rather inexperienced and operating out of a new system. If he can get the mental side down, the physical gifts are certainly there. His arm strength is tremendous and his mobility is good.

So, I don't think we should throw in the towel on him. He's just not ready yet. Sure he might get passed up by Howard, but I'm betting Howard isn't ready yet either. Let's not chop down the whole tree because the fruit isn't ripe yet. The SEC can be pretty rough on Mobile QBs. JD might not get through the season unscathed. We might need Nuss to win a game or two. So, perhaps it would be better if we didn't destroy his confidence completely.

Are you serious? He doesn’t turn the ball over, seems to handle the pressure of the moment, and is faster. Do those not count?

If anyone still thinks Jayden isn’t the guy I don’t know what to say at this point.

I think this is why he looked so bad. It’s no excuse, in fact it probably indicates less than optimal decision making, but I think he likely isn’t as bad as he showed.
He most definitely looked like he was trying to do the most heroic thing possible on every play, rather than the most sensible thing. Like he saw Daniels playing well, and improving in looking downfield rather than taking off, and saw his opportunity dwindling, so he wanted to make it impossible for them to take him off the field.

It was a terrible thought process and led to terrible performance. Hopefully that’s what it was and this isnt the best he can do, and hopefully he learns from it in case he ever has to go back in.

Not that my opinion matters but not ready to write him off yet career-wise. Last year no development occurred. He has lots to fix though.

You’re making an excuse by saying he didn’t play that badly. He was objectively terrible.

Just playing devil's advocate here, but handling pressure and making good decisions so as not to turn the ball over do seem like benefits of experience. That being said, even with experience it's not a sure thing Nuss can correct his issues. I hope he can.
