Because of that statement. Sometimes speaking your mind even if it’s the truth can bite you. LSU didn’t forget it.

Anybody that says Les Miles had anything to do with this is a idiot. He never appreciated or respected LSU, had incredible northern arrogance. He also was a idiot. Same thing with Jerry Diwapo, never should have gotten the job. Do you think he would have changed Notre Dames uniforms...….no chance. Both of these clowns never should have been the head coach at LSU. Incredible they lasted as long as they did.

I've heard former players say non complementary things about Jerry Stoval too, wasn't the guy he pretended to be with the media. And I'm sure some players don't like Coach Saban but that's why they transfer.

yhe Most talented players on offense on the 2011 team were freshmen.

True.

quote:

A lot didn’t play

The only one listed that didn't play more than 5 games nor play in the BCS game was Magee. He only played 5 games. (Didn't he tear his ACL that season?)

The next fewest games played was Shepard, a junior, at 11 games. The freshmen, minus Magee, played in 13 (Hilliard) and all 14 (Landry, Beckham) games.

Beckham was the second leading receiver on the team. Landry was a special teams stud. Hilliard was the 3rd leading rusher and tied for the most rushing TDs at 8. The top three rushers were all sophomores that combined for 22 TDs (7, 7, 8).

Clear that the freshman were pretty important, as were the sophomores.

quote:

And you aren’t exactly naming superstars outside OBJ and Jarvis (again freshmen)

So what? What they did or didn't do in the NFL post-LSU doesn't really matter. What matters is that they were good enough at LSU to get a look in the NFL.

But I can understand this argument. I'm just trying to point out that this team wasn't completely devoid of NFL talent. Shepard has ended up with long and decent career, Blue played for a few years, and Boone and Wright made it a few years in the league despite not having productive college careers.

Why don't you do the leg work and tell me what that Alabama team's guys did in the NFL?

quote:

Compare that to this year?

We don't know what's going to happen with any of the guys coming out this year as seniors or juniors, and certainly can't tell on the underclassman quite yet. Projections look better, for sure. And, with that, you can only look at draft potential. All these stud draftable players may end up with the same sort of careers as the "washouts" from 2011.

Also, it looks like you aren't including, I assume, Landry as a future star in your rundown.

The 2011 offense could have been much better if Miles had not been stubborn. Lee should have been given a shot in the BCS game and the game-plan adjusted when things didn't work out. Miles put all his eggs in the Jefferson/option basket.

I am not arguing otherwise. Enough talent was there is my point.

Only 2 plays on offense in the 4th quarter were not runs. Think about that.

Assuming a close loss at Bama, yes. Assuming a blowout at Bama, maybe.

Ingrate.

Les Miles hired LSU’s current HC, offensive coordinator, and defensive coordinator.

This only further proves the point.

Not only did Miles squander the talent of his players, but he greatly mismanaged and squandered the talent of his Staff.

Not remotely correct.

On LSU's last possession alone, there were three pass plays in a row.

Check the Play-by-Play.

I think I know the key reason. What different people said regarding the rematch:

Les Miles:
quote:

I would be honored to play that team again.

Eric Reid:
quote:

When we found out we had to play Alabama again, I was pissed. We had already beat them. Alabama didn’t even make it to the conference championship game, and now they get to play us again for the national title? I’ll be upset about that forever.

Brad Wing:
quote:

Alabama didn’t deserve to be in the national championship game. We certainly weren’t thrilled about playing them again. It’s hard to beat anyone twice. We knew we were going to have our hands full.

Triggered by historical facts?

Its an historical fact that JJ was not only incapable of winning on 1/9, but he was also the worst QB option in the entire history of the championship game. Zero points

So removing that poorly chosen option, could not have possibly been worse

You're right. There were 16 non-punt plays.

LSU started the 4th quarter down "only" 15-0. In theory, it's just a 2 score game.

LINK

And yet...

The first TEN OF THOSE PLAYS WERE RUSHES...at which point LSU punted with 7 minutes left in the game.

They FINALLY tried 2 passes in a row when it was 2 and 18. (Again, score still 15-0).

With 4.5 minutes to go, down 21-0, they did finally attempt 3 passes (sack and then punt of course.)

I don't care who you put in there at QB - even JJ - you don't come out in the last quarter of the entire damned season only down 2 scores and then RUN TEN TIMES.

I still say one day we'll find out some crazy explanation for this.

You’re counting Hilliard who was a 7th round pick

Our TE, LT, LG C RG RT went undrafted.

Compare that to the 2011 Alabama defense.

This is every offensive play for LSU in the fourth quarter. This includes LSU punting down by 21 with 2:47 left in the game as well as letting the play clock dwindle down with less than 4 minutes left to go.

2nd & 3 at LSU 29
(14:55 - 4th) Kenny Hilliard rush for 2 yards to the LSU 31.

3rd & 1 at LSU 31
(14:13 - 4th) Kenny Hilliard rush for 2 yards to the LSU 33 for a 1ST down.

1st & 10 at LSU 33
(13:40 - 4th) Michael Ford rush for 3 yards to the LSU 36.

2nd & 7 at LSU 36
(13:20 - 4th) Jordan Jefferson rush for 3 yards to the LSU 39.

3rd & 4 at LSU 39
(12:30 - 4th) J.C. Copeland rush for no gain to the LSU 39.

4th & 4 at LSU 39
(12:07 - 4th) Brad Wing punt for 44 yards, punt out-of-bounds at the Alab 17.

1st & 10 at LSU 35
(9:34 - 4th) Spencer Ware rush for 5 yards to the LSU 40.

2nd & 5 at LSU 40
(9:03 - 4th) Jordan Jefferson rush for 3 yards to the LSU 43.

3rd & 2 at LSU 43
(8:19 - 4th) Kenny Hilliard rush for 7 yards to the 50 yard line for a 1ST down.

1st & 10 at 50
(7:53 - 4th) Jordan Jefferson rush for 18 yards to the Alab 32 for a 1ST down.

1st & 10 at ALA 32
(7:23 - 4th) Michael Ford rush for a loss of 3 yards to the Alab 35.

2nd & 13 at ALA 35
(6:56 - 4th) LSU penalty 5 yard False Start on Chris Faulk accepted.

2nd & 18 at ALA 40
(6:27 - 4th) Jordan Jefferson pass incomplete to Spencer Ware.

3rd & 18 at ALA 40
(6:21 - 4th) Jordan Jefferson pass incomplete to Jarvis Landry.

4th & 18 at ALA 40
(6:15 - 4th) Jordan Jefferson sacked by Dont'a Hightower for a loss of 10 yards, fumbled, forced by Dont'a Hightower, recovered by Alab Nick Gentry at the 50 yard line.

1st & 10 at LSU 23
(4:26 - 4th) Jordan Jefferson pass incomplete to Deangelo Peterson.

2nd & 10 at LSU 23
(4:13 - 4th) Jordan Jefferson pass complete to Spencer Ware for a loss of 2 yards to the LSU 21.

3rd & 12 at LSU 21
(3:36 - 4th) Jordan Jefferson sacked by Dont'a Hightower and Mark Barron for a loss of 2 yards to the LSU 19.

4th & 14 at LSU 19
(2:58 - 4th) ALABAMA penalty 5 yard Offside Defense on Alex Watkins accepted.

4th & 9 at LSU 24
(2:47 - 4th) Brad Wing punt for 27 yards, punt out-of-bounds at the Alab 49.

We didn't throw a pass in the fourth quarter until 6+ minutes left. This was the single worst coaching job I've ever seen. I can't believe someone is in here defending it unless they answer to names like Les or Smacker.

I don't think we will. I think the explanation is right in front of us and has been the whole time. Many, like myself, never wanted to believe it, but Les Miles was stubborn and not the sharpest tool in the shed. He honestly thought he could win with the old gameplan. It makes sense b/c he was never innovative. He tried the same shite over and over again. And finally, he quit. He's the fricking coach that quit on his team during a National Championship game with the game still within reach. 8 minutes left in the game, down by 2 scores and he running the ball and ticking off 30 seconds b/t plays.
