He should have been fired after 1/9/12.

He did not "basically extort" anything. LSU entered freely into negotiations with him and his agent. No extortion at all.

WHAT EVER! Miles "BASICALLY" used the threat of leaving for Arkansas to get more money than he deserved from LSU! I know it wasn't extortion by the legal definition but it is extortion in the ethical sense!

jj. that was the problem

No. The fact that he was the starter was the problem.

I’m not sure we beat Oregon or West Virginia with Jefferson at QB. Even the year before we don’t win Tennessee or Florida without Lee.

Honestly I don’t blame Les for 1/9/12. We shouldn’t have had to play Bama again but they were the better team. My beef with Miles was always his clumsiness, game management and offensive philosophy.

I shouldn’t post because this thread should die. Miles has been gone for three and a half years. No one misses him.

the fact this thread is still going is sad and hilarious. if your brain is broken this much over a twitter fight between will blackwell and les miles or even just les miles by himself you need to take stock of your life. go outside, enjoy the sunshine, spend time with your family etc. hell just enjoy the national championship we won less than a week ago. or you can continue with your bitch arse mindset, whatever.

Les did great things for our program. The game just simply past him and by end of 2015 it was time for him and LSU to part ways. Just simply that.

I heard two variations of what really happened on 1/9/12 and I don't repeat them on message boards. Others have already or insinuated as much. Let's just say it was a perfect storm that was partially Les' fault.

Will has a right to see it the way he does. But he did himself no favors by getting owned by his opponent all game that night. That is not all on coaching and scheme. Players still need to perform.

Folks getting all worked up about the past are the real losers. Winners learn from the past and work towards the future. And those who criticized Miles the most harshly wanted O's head on a plate after Troy.

Negatigers are still Negatiers and still lower than chiite after all this time. There is a small group of sick fricks who were ecstatic like all of us on Monday night but who were depressed and then mad the next day. Their sick fantasy of LSU firing its HC the next day after winning the NC did not come true.

I think Lee passed for a grand total of 98 yards vs. Oregon. Honey Badger won that game. I got no issue thinking we beat Oregon with JJ at QB.

Lulz, there were 8 dropped passes by halftime of the Oregon game. The announcers went back and counted them. I think 14 total by the end of the game. Once Lee and the WR corp got into a groove, they were crushing all opponents.

Until JJ was put back on the team. Then Miles had Lee looking over his shoulder. An undefeated QB against multiple ranked teams, was made to worry about his starting job . . . . let that sink in. Especially after Miles already was forced to call on Lee to secure victory against Bama, Fla, and Tenn the year prior

It was complete insanity, that Miles had Lee splitting time with JJ, prior to Bama. Insanity

I agree. It made no sense to me either. Glad he is gone.

having the most accomplished tenure in LSU history was bad for the program?

wow

Of course, we will never know. But I would bet the farm you would never have been able to say that had miles not followed Saban. The big 12 is a weak conference, LSU proved that this year by stomping a mudhole in Oklahoma's arse and walking it dry. (they were the big 12 champs) Miles will never compete even in that weak arse conference.

Spill what you heard in detail

To say you know things and then go on to insinuate you are somewhat gentlemanly by not elucidating the rest of the fan base is disingenuous and cowardly

That game was the reason Les lost the respect of the team. Went 3 quarters afraid to make changes or try something (anything) different. Then he has Lee start to warm up and pull JJ.

JJ basically refused to leave the game. Les(s) should have called timeout and taken his helmet.

You could just see the entire team lost respect for Miles for basically the remainder of his time here. Les should have been replaced (poor AD work). Would it have resulted in better seasons or end results, IDK. But when a coach loses the program he has got to go.

The fantasy world you Les bashers live in is just comical.

Les Miles is the biggest fraud to ever coach college football. We were the laughing stock around the college world.Kansas is a good place for him, but he will not be there long.

What's the point? Miles is in LSU's rear-view mirror.

If I had a guaranteed self renewing contract for millions of dollars, why would I worry about changing my philosophy.
I would probably eat grass, count birds flying over the stadium, and surround my self with yes men. Might invite Rickdaddy over for barbecue.

Nico Johnson was a LB on that BAMA team. He is from the town I live in. I saw him at the Wal-Mart a couple of weeks after that game. He told me it was the easiest game because LSU ran the same 4 plays over and over no matter what formation the offense got in. He said everyone was just flying to the ball and Saban was raising hell cause he thought LSU would change the play at the line and throw the ball deep and burn BAMA. He couldn't believe how easy that game was for them on defense.

You are right! We should have kept Les(s). I am sure he would have achieved the same results and not won anything. The game passed him by.

I am sure his friend Cam Cameron would have utilized a 2 star QB recruit well. A player like Joe B would have never come here to run a 1970's offense.

I suggest you follow Kansas these days. He is back in business.
