I see Meyer's comments having more to do with how much respect he has for Burrow and his family.

Burrow is going to to be very good at LSU. Very good.

If you can't watch his film and tell the difference, not sure what to tell you.

Who cares. He is an LSU Tiger now. tOSU is his past and has nothing to do with OP.

Film of what? Seriously..what film? Are you speaking of the one decent game that they literally scored 50 ?

What game film?

And that's the point, you guys are slobbering over what Urban says because he HAS to say everything hes saying. You arent basing your knowledge off of anything else.

I'm about as big an Ogre/Alleva detractor as you'll find on this site, and I still don't know what value this thread has.

For y'all saying Burrow was processed, well, he didn't beat out the projected starter. BUT... he did get himself to the point of graduating which *takes the decision out of Meyer's hands*.

If he was straight up a waste of a schollie, which is why people are processed, CUM would have ran him off prior to now.

I think Burrow is going to be solid for us. I think he's better than Etling overall. Where the real test will be is his toughness and ability to execute in "tight quarters" as Miles liked to say.

In other words, Etling played tough at times until we lined up against the likes of Bama. Then he assumed the fetal position and failed to execute makeable plays. If Burrow is able to do that, then we have a serious upgrade.

My hopeful prediction is:

why would you cut off the part of my post where I said he very likely is an upgrade?

regardless, you have an incredibly small sample size of "film" you're able to watch so no one here should be able to make any kind of definitive statement on him

My prediction is that a year from now, probably much sooner , you will be a big , vocal Joe Burrow fanboy .

i am also very high on burrow...but it might have more to do with me being relieved we won't have to rely on any of the other guys to start. that period of time where it looked like mcmilan might be the guy was pretty frightening.

I thought it was pretty clear and not up for debate that Meyer made the decision that he thinks Haskins gives them the best chance to win over Burrow. Has anyone suggested otherwise?

That's a coach's call and it's an imperfect science. Sometimes you have two guys that could both lead the team, but you have to make judgment call at that position. If Haskins is legitimately better than Burrow, so what? Ohio State had 3 quarterbacks on their roster last year better than all of ours perhaps. All that matters is is Burrow an upgrade for LSU.

Wait, you mean he didn't really have health issues and left Florida in anticipation of Aaron Hernandez's gang attacks becoming public?

I’m confused about the point of this thread. He was passed up on OSUs depth chart (by a pretty good QB), had graduated and decided to leave.

Haskins would have been better than anyone we have too. So again who cares how he fell behind? He did, and he bailed, now he is on our team and I don’t think anyone doubts that the team is better for it.

Went back and looked at the games from last year.

So much was said about him being hurt and falling behind and blah blah.

The game logs do not really support that claim.

J.T. Barrett makes all of the passing attempts in the first 2 games.

In Game 3, Haskins makes 4 passes against Army.

By Game 4, Burrow is playing again. So Haskins had a grand total of 4 pass attempts where Burrow was not available.

The big shift is here in Game 4 against UNLV. Both guys are healthy and eligible to play. Haskins gets 23 attempts where Burrow only gets 4.

For the rest of the season, you see that the pecking order has been decided. Haskins gets 6 attempts to Burrow's 2 attempts the next week vs. Rutgers.

The next week, Haskins gets mop of duty and Burrow doesnt play against Maryland.

It is here that you can see in the stats that Burrow has checked out. He goes 1/3 against Nebraska, gets passed over for mop up duty against Michigan St., and finishes tOSU career with 0/2 against Illinois.

In short, Urban Meyer is full of crap. Burrow was buried on the depth chart at #3, and leaving opened him up another scholarship.

I think he's going to end up like Jake Coker. Everyone expects him to win the job and light the world on fire, but it'll take two years.

But Jake did win a National Championship his senior year.

You made one big error in your post, Burrow was NOT healthy by game 4. As a matter of fact, he wasn't completely healed until after the Michigan game. He never got the chance, and once Haskins had a win on his plate vs MI, that gave him the edge.

Another factor is, Kevin Wilson. He said the start of last season that JT was "adequate". Those were his words. LINK

Wilson wants his Indiana offense with a pro style QB and a strong running game.

Neither JT or Joe fit what he wanted. After the loss at OK, Wilson is getting his shot this year running the offense with Urban involved less.
