If Hilliard wasn’t on a weird schedule from pitching twice last weekend I would have no issues entertaining this

He threw 14 pitches, man

And trust me, id love to start our regular rotation this weekend. But there is no good option. Labas threw 120 and would be on 5 days rest. Marceaux the 150 on 4 days rest or hilliard on 6 days rest and a total of 78 pitches last weekend.

Marceaux is getting extra rest, Hilliard’s been pretty good the latter part of the year in a starting role, and they’re playing on house money. Just be happy we’re able to watch them another weekend. I’m happy CPM is retiring, it was time, but I’m rooting like hell he gets one more trip to Omaha.

Id imagine Hilliard will go as long as he can but on a short hook with Javon ready. If MH and JC can get us 7 combined decent innings of work we are golden.

I'd also hold back Marceaux if we win game 1. Let Labas take his chances vs. Tidwell and at worst we have our ace vs their #3 w/ Omaha on the line

Cmon man! We know you aren’t one of our stronger posters, but you should at least understand enough about baseball in order to start threads.

Ok and if he doesn’t and we lose by one run then I bet you tell yourself hmmmm if Marceaux was pitching we win this game.

And what if Marceaux can’t go as long on shorter rest and we lose another close game. Now we are down 0-1 without Marceaux.

Let Marceaux get the extra rest. We need to find a way to win game 1 without him.

I mean, its pretty simple. He threw 100 pitches friday, then came back and threw 46 pitches Monday. If you're really confused about this decision, idk what to tell you..

There is a whole lot that you don't understand.

I never understood the "Friday night" starter logic in college. If you have an ace that gives you a solid 8 innings every weekend, he should start in game 2. Bullpen would be used in game 1, rested in game 2 and fresh for game 3. If your ace throws a complete game in game 1, and game 2 starter doesn't make it out of the 6th, then game 3 will have a depleted bull pen.

He loosened up, threw a short bullpen, then 14 pitches against live hitters. It was basically what most consider a "bullpen day".

I admire this strategy. Out yourself as a complete idiot that knows jack shite, right off the bat so nobody even pretends to take you seriously.

Watch the fools in this thread who are supporting this move come back Saturday after the game and a 7-6 loss and complain that we would have won if Marceaux had pitched.

If we lose the game 7-6; people most likely will
Be bitching more about our bullpen than who started.
Either way; game 2; the do or die game either way you shake it; is when you want your ace on the bump.

Good thing the Coaches don’t listen to tRant to decide who’s starting & when!

Im gonna trust that CPM & Staff know just a tad more about who’s well rested, ready to go & who isn’t than a couple dumb asses on tRant. But that’s just me I suppose!!
