I swear our fanbase is full of dumbasses.

For the last time: Coaches cannot use their salary for NIL. Even if he wanted to, that’s more Scott Woodward’s fault than BK’s. Other top coaches are getting paid very similar salaries and still get good NIL contributions.
Exactly.
CBK has donated money to our facilities, hired Austin Thomas, and now there's a partnership between TAF and BT. Why is there some pushback on CBK trying to get our fanbase/donors more aligned with the new NIL world?
You all have to ask yourselves if you want to be truly elite or not in CFB.

Other schools are paying his recruits a lot more money to leave LSU. He has a problem with that. All of a sudden that is “unfortunate.”
Nothing I need to read up on to see that is hypocrisy.
So what would you have BK do?
Just pay top dollar to everyone? Is the money supply endless? How much money do you give to the NIL collective?

You’re an idiot. He’s saying you recruit these kids all year, develop relationships, agree to terms and at the last minute they switch for more money. That’s a huge swift in recruiting whether your dumb arse what’s to admit it or not

It’s the way it is…he isn’t really complaining here. Listen to the whole presser.
People just love to pick and choose material to support a cause.

no, you gtfo. I'm so sick of this rhetoric. He's a professional who has been in the workforce for 40 damn years, not a 17 commanding 7 figures although never playing a snap of college ball
He's earned the right to make that salary. You have to be brain dead to not understand the difference

He was at ND for years before he left. He's the all-time winningest coach. He's making more money, but it's not the money that made him decide to leave. In the case of most of these recruits, they are going somewhere based solely off of the upfront money. That's a detriment to them and schools and people l are using it to their advantage. I could get into an hours long discussion ranging from socio-economics to the role that greed plays in society today, but I'll just leave it at this. Just say that you can't stand BK. That's all you have to say, because That's is the driver for this whole thread, and it misses the mark in a big way.

I just got on and came looking for a good, irrational rant. Thanks, bud. Literally the 1st thread I opened up today.
To quote the great philosopher, Cousin Eddie, “That’s the gift that keeps on giving the whole year.”

You're trying to compare apple to orange here.

It’s wild the people that are blowing this quote up. (It’s mostly because people don’t like BK)
I live in the Midwest and a local radio station spent 25 minutes talking about his comments this morning.
His comments are spot on no matter your view of Kelly. You could sell kids on development and all that jazz a few years ago.
Those days are long gone.

He just needs to take a saban approach and say less.
WTF: Saban went on entire rant to the entire fan base about needing money to get the players.

There's a big difference between an unproven 17 year old demanding millions of dollars and a head coach with decades of success under his belt demanding millions of dollars.
Posted on 12/5/24 at 12:16 pm to RRBengal
quote:Except for the fact that he has been chasing a championship and felt LSU would be a better path. Except for that. And comparing a guy that started as a GA and worked for 40 years to get somewhere to a 17 year old that is signing a 1 year deal that may sacrifice multi millions down the road. is a really dumb comparison.
Because in his case it was all about the money

I haven't read the thread, but I'm sure you've been told, he didn't come here because the money was too hard to turn down.
ND pays well
He came b/c he wants to be able to compete for a NC
Something ND has no shot of doing, in the playoffs or not

Being hypocritical would be Kelly agreeing to 10/mil a year then coming back and saying no I need 12/mil if you really want me.
I’m sure his agent did just that

Sweet lord some of y'all are dumb.
For you types that have trouble with comprehension, he's not saying it's a bad thing for players to get paid. What he's saying is unfortunate is players putting the foundation or meat of what should be the reason you pick a school, such as fit, education, coaching staff, historical development of players at that position, etc. on the backburner and selecting a school that maybe doesn't offer them the best chance for their future because that school is desperate and willing to pay more money upfront.
It would be hypocritical of him to hold that stance and yet have taken more money to go to another program from Notre Dame that didn't offer a better chance to win a championship. Is anyone going to argue that LSU hasn't offered a better chance to win a championship over the last 3 decades than Notre Dame?
He was indirectly addressing Bryce Underwood here, clearly. Bryce stayed at Michigan, which had the 129th rated passing offense in the country this year over a school in LSU that is 8th this season, 3rd in 2023, and 21st in 2022 in passing offense with two Heisman winner/1st overall picks at QB since 2019. He clearly went to a place that is worse for his development than what LSU had to offer and that is a shame.
