Man, that is great.

I loved my time at LSU but always kind of regretted not looking at other options across the country.

Leaving after school was life changing as well, so glad I got the student experience, but I’d guess there are lots of benefits to going away for college that I’m sure many people, myself included, would enjoy.

PS. Still follow the Caps and it will always be the Capital Centre (and RFK) to me!

Really disappointed they didn’t take advantage of the new branding to call it the Capital One Centre instead of arena. I mean it was the Verizon and mci center so it would have even fit with that lineage.

I took my wife to DC for the 1st time a couple years ago (I’ve been before) and she loved it. I think every American should visit the area at least once in their life

Nice post jlovel7! I grew up late 70’s early ‘80’s in Lake Ridge (PW County just south of Fairfax). All my friends were going to Tech, Redford, JMU and UVA. I got some funny reactions when they found out it was LSU for me. Best friend who went to VA Tech is a convert now. To this day he comes down for one big game a year just to experience Tiger Stadium.

I'm hoping to get tickets for Friday's game. My buddy lives in Fed Hill but I'm on the Eastern shore about an hour from Ocean City

Yes, great story Jlove. LSU fans are family. Like family we squabble sometimes, but when we get attacked like by Dickie V.....we come together.

I wish I could come up there but work won't allow. Have fun and pull the Tigers through.

Good stuff. My middle son goes to Georgetown. Love the area. I wish I could make the trip.

I’m from BR and have lived in DC (and surrounding area) since 2005. Currently live in Alexandria and work two blocks from from the Capitol One Center. Already have my tickets and a hotel room for Friday evening.

GEAUX TIGAHS!!

So if anyone needs any tips on where to stay, where to eat, what to do while you're in town, please don't hesitate to respond to this thread and I will try and make sure that y'all have the best possible trip you can have in DC.

Awesome post man, I sure hope we can win it all!

I am very interested in learning about where to stay and eat because my family is planning on taking a trip to DC this summer. We have never been and are looking forward to seeing the capital :)

my copy and paste comment from the travel board on DC food:

For steakhouses I'd recommend any of the following

Joe's Seafood and Steak
Oceans Prime
Capital Grille

For small plates I've found these to be fantastic spots

Zaytinya(Greek-ish)
The Source(asian)
Proof('merican)
Doi Moi(southeast asian)
Estadio(spanish)
Jaleo(spanish)
Oyamel(Mexican)

If you're a whiskey fan, especially scotch you MUST go to Jack Rose. The food there is fantastic as well.

For an amazing dining/drink experience check one of the several michelin restaurants

Minibar(**)
Blue Duck Tavern(*)
Komi(*)
Rasika(*)

Minibar is great and is def a once every few years type of dining experience

*skip Old Ebbitts. Yes it gets flak because people who visit and stop in after seeing the white house love it but you're not getting anything interesting or that you can't really get at any other restaurant. It's like going to NYC and hitting up Sbarro's for pizza. Just don't
