I have said this in a few threads but I just wanted to share how cool this is for an out of state Tiger. I came to LSU/Louisiana from the DC area 7 years ago without having ever stepped foot in Louisiana before orientation. I grew up as a small child and then through my adolescence and into my adulthood going to see the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena (although it'll always be the MCI center to me) and is probably the second most special athletic venue to me behind only Tiger Stadium (because how could that ever not be #1?). We grew up as a mostly pro sports family as most East coasters do but my family has been all in on LSU since day #1. I have always been passionate about sports and there are few better places than LSU to express that passion especially across multiple major sports. We grew up around countless Duke, Maryland, and Virginia Tech fans and we would love nothing more than to show them how superior LSU fans are in their passion and their love for their team. My dad and brother are still back home and were texting me all game yesterday about how LSU NEEDED to win because they were currently surrounded by UMD fans and of course we all know how fun it is to win while you're in enemy territory.

So if anyone needs any tips on where to stay, where to eat, what to do while you're in town, please don't hesitate to respond to this thread and I will try and make sure that y'all have the best possible trip you can have in DC. This will be a special weekend for me and I would love nothing more than to see LSU shove it down the throats of Duke/Virginia Tech/Michigan State/Liberty/Whoever else wants a piece.

Nice to play in the swamp and not have to endure Gainsville.

nice.

I moved to the area 9 years ago. My first apartment was off N Quincy across from the library

I can't wait. I'm off work Friday, just need to find tickets or a good watch party

luckily my schedule is such where I get to my office in DC early and leave early so it's not bad

but yea, my 15 minute commute could easily be 80 minutes if I left 2 hours later

Yeah but y'all have the Metro. Kind of nice to hop on a subway in Arlington and in five minutes you're where you need to be. I wish we had that option with traffic.

From what I understand metro has been having a lot of issues lately. What’s crazy is even with all the people that take the metro, driving can still be absolutely horrendous. There are definitely options but it’s still a mess.

That’s awesome man.

Wish I was still in the area, would have been awesome to catch the Tigers up there.

Just out of curiosity, what drew you to LSU from there without other connections?

Enjoy, hope you get to see the guys take on Zion, would be epic

Statistically a good fit based on program I wanted, cost, size, layout of the campus. My college search was nation wide. I could have gone to Arizona, UI Chicago and a few other places but I was Callin Baton Rouge.

Basically a shot in the dark that changed my life. I cannot imagine being anywhere else. What other school/place is as passionate as we are about every major sport? Florida has the programs at an elite level but no fan support. As far as academics LSU architecture made vast improvements even while I was there and provided me with an excellent education.

Born in and spent my childhood in PG county. Then parents transferred to central Louisiana and rest is history. I haven’t been back to the DC area since. Great story and glad you get to see our tigers play up there!

PS. Still follow the Caps and it will always be the Capital Centre (and RFK) to me!

Awesome post How did you end up at LSU anyway? Kind of the same situation for me except from Texas but had never even been to LSU before I went to school there
