So post count equals football knowledge?
Or was it “ballsack” that got you excited?

Lol. Are there coaches who “work” 18+ hours a day? Yep. But it’s not sustainable.

Spurrier was a guy, great coach, laughed at it. If you can’t get it done and find time for your family you are in the wrong line of work. Something like that.

It’s a fine line but anything over about 10-12 hours without adequate sleep and there is law of diminishing returns (health and mental acuity)

And yes this is where experience having developed gameplans week after week year after year is of benefit. Time and resource management comes into play.

Look I hope SE comes up with the best gameplan in the history of gameplans and can do it on 4 hours of sleep a night without the benefit of, ummm, modern medicine and we beat the hell out of Aubbie.

But this notion that SE is sleeping in his office working harder longer bcs it’s so important doesn’t mean it’s necrssarily him working smarter.

I don't. Dude said the number 1 and 2 goals are to win the TO battle and TOP battle doesn't scream of throwing the ball around and trying to score points. Just saying. If this doesn't work it's all on O.

It took a shitty game plan against SLU to wake him up?
We were told he was the best OC in the country. We were told all off season he was running a more spread offense and it would surprise people.
Nothing at this point should be a surprise if that is a fact.

Except, two weeks in and we’ve shown glimmers of hope and in the 2nd half the same old unproductive offense. That’s the fact.

This week is his final chance to show he’s capable of putting our players in the right positions to succeed moving forward.

We’re going to find out what he’s made of this week. So far he’s been unimpressive adjusting to multiple looks, blitzes and finishing games strong.

I’m not sure if I believe in him, just yet, but I’m rooting for him. He succeeds, LSU wins.

Why is this his final chance?

I basically agree with what you're saying, but it's only week 3.

I'm highly concerned about Ensminger's ability as an OC, but I just hope he finds his footing by mid October for the stretch run.

This probably went unnoticed in the Miami game, but on one of Clyde's carries, Ensminger used an unbalanced line. He had Saadiq line up next to Traore and had Foster line up next to Brumfield. I think the play went for 5 yards and a first down. Little things like that give me the belief that Ensminger can get creative with this offense.

I truly believe he is determined to do a good job. I know he wants LSU to succeed, and not just himself. Seems like a really good dude.

His talent as an OC and playmaker is still greatly in question, no matter his determination and effort.

I could stay up all night to come up with a game plan too. It wouldn’t matter because I’m not a great OC.

We are in a similar situation with Ensminger

Why do you think he didn’t want the job when first offered?

I believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

I wanted to believe in Ensminger but the play calling has been uninspiring. If this is the offense that Orgeron "envisioned" he signed his own pink slip.
Can anyone explain Ensminger's offensive scheme/philosophy beyond being "multiple"?
It's not like he had a defined scheme when he was selected. It has sounded like he created it with input from his other coaches. It reminds me of the old adage " a camel is horse designed by a committee."
I'd love to be shocked with some good performances but I'm not expecting it. It really seems like Les Miles v2. "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss."

The thing that floors me the most about LSU's offense minus the year with odell and landry is that it just seems to never get better throughout the year. This has been the pattern for the last 10 years.First game your like ah ok it was the first game we gonna get better. Here comes the 5th game of the season and what are we still saying man whats wrong with this offense? Why cant we find someone that can run an offense that seems to actually work? I know LSU has alot of new guys in key positions but dam we been saying that for dam near 10 years with the same results. Is Steve E. the answer? right now its looking like a no! Prove us wrong Steve.

First, him spending the night in his office studying film is nothing new. He’s done this his entire career at LSU, even as the TE coach. It’s nothing to get excited about. If it were a new habit, it’d be note worthy.

Second, of course he’s going to try to put together the best game plan he is capable of. It’s his job. No one will ever question the effort the coaching staff is putting in to put the best product they can on the field.

The problem is that changing the entire scheme of the offense in one week is not possible. You’ve spent all of spring and fall camp implementing a scheme, now you have to work with it. The OLine doesn’t fit well with the scheme so now you’re forced to adjust your play calling to account for it. Hence all of the max protection packages again SELU and the low completion percentages against them and Miami. The execution on screens has been poor and we’ve seen very few short routes so far. If I’m SE, I practicing screens all weak until the offense executes then correctly. We have no choice but to dink and dunk our way down the field against Auburn if we can’t give Burrow time to throw. It’s going to be interesting to watch the play calling in this game and it will give us a really good idea of what this team could be.

There was an article in the Advocate last year that stated that he slept at the office even as TE coach. I still don’t see how sleeping at the office, loving LSU etc has a damn thing to do with designing and effectively implementing a successful offense in 2018. I hope he lights it up for the remainder of the year. However, results up to this point are mixed, at best.

Why?
I believe in Aranda and the Special team coach. Defensive staff is full of coaches who could easily have multiple job offers the day LSU let them go. Special teams coach could also go to several stops and collect a paycheck.

Offensive side -- who could really go and get offers to do the same thing we are paying them to do-- I guess the OL coach could land somewhere and maybe RB coach but come on, who else really would be sought after on the open market?

Think there is a correlation with production on the field and the strength of the coaches?

No one is trying o change any scheme. Where does this idea come from? And as far as the Oline goes, it’s not very good. It’s not like we mismatched a good oline scheme with a bad oline. Should E have implemented a bad oline scheme? There is no such thing.

If the defense knows you can’t pass protect they will implement coverages that blanket your receivers for the first three seconds. This risks getting gashed if the QB has time, but they will gamble that your bad oline can’t give him time. There is no solution to this except to get better on the oline.

Throw quick hitters? The defense will be sitting on them. Draws and screens? They work against teams that try to outnumber your oline. Against an oline that can’t pass block only an idiot tries that. Again, no solution.
