All in all, I am pretty happy with the last two recuiting classes and I think that there are some real sleepers in this years class like Gibson and Wright.

I was at LSU in the 70's and I suffered though the 80 and the 90's with our team.

Believe me, If you watched LSU football in those two decades, the Les Miles era looks pretty good.

Is he stubborn with his play calling and Asst. coaches loyality ? Maybe, but compared to guys like Saban and Kiffin, Les is a really decent guy and I hope that fate deals him and LSU a good hand in the next few years.

Starting over is not all that it is cracked up to be.

Recruiting all these good athletes is pointless if you can't learn how to develop their talents.

For fun, provide a list of freak athletes he recruited that have shown no improvement while at LSU.

Its pretty clear that Les and his staff fail to develop a quarterback and misuse other players such as Russell Shepard.

This years class is not looking good. Four decommits, probably more to come. No doubt other coaches are telling recruits LSU will get slapped because of the McCarthy recruiting violations. Might want to hold up on the praise for Les' recruiting. Also, how many of those guys he recruited over the last few years are still at LSU?

Perrilloux's actually doing ridiculously well and will probably get a shot in the NFL. I don't see why you would fault Miles & Co. for grooming the heir apparent instead of his backups.

Hicks never played a down at LSU, and neither he nor McCarthy are with the university at this point. The problem has been dealt with internally completely and there will be no sanctions.

No reason to do so.

If you don't count recruits that have graduated, turned pro early, or turned their focus to another sport, then his retention rate is comparable to any coach in the country.

You're a glass half-empty kinda guy, I take it?

I don't think the 80's resulted in much "suffering" compared to the 70's and the 90's !

LSU was 71-40-5 from 1980 through 1988, under Stovall, Arnsparger and Archer. Take away the Stovall years and the Tigers were 49-19-3 from '83 through '88, with two Sugar Bowls and one Orange Bowl. Hardly an embarrassment

The years '89 through '99? Agreed, a disaster !

According to Glenn Guilbeau, Mike Davis, Justin Hunter, Jemarcus Hardrick have officially decommitted. Cassius Marsh is expected to decommit and commit to either USC or UCLA. LSU might drop from its current rank of 6 or 7 to 12. So you might check your facts before you start picking apart what I wrote.

I'm not calling for his head either. He won 8 in 2008, 9 in 2009, and should be held to the standard of 10 in 2010.
I don't think LSU will fire Miles unless he has a 8 or less win season though.

You might want to look at the big picture before you hinge your argument and the fate of LSU on the recruiting ranking of a class. Stars and point totals are nice, but the accuracy of these talent projections won't be known for another couple years or so.... but more importantly, LSU has consistently recruited top ten classes or better and that is good enough to compete for SEC and national championships. And even more important, this year-- which is still looking like a very good class-- was expected to be a down year. So, we are doing as well as expected, if not better. Sure, it sucks to lose recruits, but these were all long distance guys; it's not like LSU's recruiting base of La. is abandoning ship. The future doesn't look that bad to me, talent-wise.

Perrilloux had a couple years under Jimbo who is an excellent QB coach. So I guess its more Crowton's fault than Miles'.
