It got banned but way more recently than the 80s. They also played it Saturday night in the second half
It was 1987.
It's been back for at least 20 years.

I am confident that they did not play it Saturday against Clemson. And I also did not hear it last year for the 2 home games I attended.
It was absolutely played and it's played every game.

Wearing a coat and tie to the game.

That’s Frank W.
Frank Wickes was GREAT! He had TGBFTL running like a well-oiled machine for many, many years. He's been a tough act to follow for other directors.

Wasn’t Tiger Rag banned after TDs in the 80’s during games because of calling opposing fans “a-hole” “a-hole” or am I thinking of another song?
They took it out of pregame sometime in the mid-late 2000s (maybe it was after 2010, but I don't think so) to create time to play both verses of the alma mater. Allegedly it had nothing to do with the "assholes" chant.

We definitely played the entire Tiger Rag once per game from 93-97.
For anyone who hasn’t put 2 and 2 together, the chorus of Tiger Rag is played quite a bit every Gameday. It’s the stadium salute in Pregame and is played after every TD.

It’s usually one of the first things the band plays when they get to the stadium. Unless you missed it then maybe the delay and condensed time before the game meant they didn’t have time for it.

You’ve clearly never had to play Hey Fightin Tigers 20 times in a football game or get booed by the crowd that rushed the field bc you played that instead of playing Neck
Are you implying that Hey Fightin Tigers is difficult technically?
Never once in 35 years of attending have I heard them play Hey Fightin Tigers even close to 20 times in a game.
