I was high on this kid coming out of high school after I saw him play against my nephew. Saw him on special teams last year as well. Kid is sneaky athletic and pretty much a coach on the field. Also had an offer from CBK while he was at Notre Dame. Any shot this kid sees some meaningful snaps?

According to the small snippet of practice that I've seen, it would appear, Mr. Bigmeat, that he was beaten pretty badly on a route by a walk-on receiver.

The kid played 1A ball. Gonna take him a while to get used to that SEC speed

Special teams at best this year. Definitely has some talent, but it will be hard to crack the depth chart with the guys in front of him.

Is he a gym rat too? Brings his lunch pale to practice every day?

I heard a sports man say he isn't the quality LSU is accustomed to... But personally I wouldn't count him out. He may need another season before he really fills a spot. But a lot of kids are recruited to not see the field until it all comes together and I'm assuming he may be one of those players. A Duke Riley type. Three years of little time, then boom.

S is so deep. Won’t play ahead of ward, foucha, and burns. His time will come though.

Ward is pretty bad so I think he can beat him out. Foucha and Burns will be tough

Coaches are high on him but the Safety position has gotten rather crowded. Still a work in progress at this point.

DB in general

Roster listings Tried to base order on experience. Using game logs at ESPN.com, it looks like Langlois has the least playing time of any returning DB.

Todd Harris Jr. - S - Grad Student 4L

Joe Foucha - DB - 5th-year Senior Transfer

Jay Ward - S - Senior 3L

Greg Brooks Jr. - DB - Senior Transfer

Jordan Toles - S - Junior 2L

Major Burns - DB - Sophomore 1L

Derrick Davis Jr. - DB - Sophomore 1L

Sage Ryan - DB - Sophomore 1L

Damarius McGhee - DB - Sophomore 1L

Matthew Langlois - DB - Sophomore 1L

Ralph Walker - DB - RS Freshman

Everett Garard - DB - RS Freshman

ETA somehow missed two players Players added in italics are Greg Brooks and Derrick Davis Jr.

To that point, Debo looked lost for a large portion of his career. He turned out just fine when things clicked. Time will tell, some players need to grow and aren’t ready made products day one.

Pretty clear he has the athleticism to play, but can he keep up with the mental aspect of the game? That’s the biggest question

I don’t think langlois is that athletic compared to who we have above him. If he was recruited by notre dame then he can handle the mental aspect.

I know what you’re trying to do though.

Toles got moved to nickel or corner and ward is gonna play somewhere but maybe not free saftey. He’s one of our best players in the secondary and has been for his time here

Yeah, Melvin has some major issues in that realm. His interest is race, not football.

The mental aspect is a barrier for 99% of them.
