Wasn’t the Godchaux or Dorsey player id hoped when he was being recruited.
But solid
But solid

That the DL guru Orgeron sucked at recruiting more than he's given credit for

I actually think Godchaux is a great comp. Both were very good but not elite. Both left prematurely after 3 years. I think Roy will be a solid pro just like Godchaux. Only real difference is that it seemed like overachieving for Godchaux because he was a 3 star/low 4 star recruit. It didn't seem as impressive for Roy because he was a high 4 star recruit. Like someone else said though, Roy isn't the problem. The problem is that you need a half a dozen Roys-- especially if they're going to leave after 3 years.

2019 was glorious.
Thank you Coach O!

He took on a lot of double teams this year and freed up others to get better stats. He played his arse off in a position that is hard to notice and doesn’t get a lot of glory. He will be a solid layer in the nFL for many years and he want get talked about a lot

Solid career, but at LSU the standard at DT is set high. He is a notch below a Drake Nevis or Bennie Logan.

And there’s not a thing wrong with having a solid career at DT. I can see him having a solid NFL career as well

I think he is at worst a 4th rounder.
I could see him coming off the board in the top 100 picks easily.

Players like Jaquelin Roy aren’t the problem. We could use 10 more of him. Players like Eli Ricks were.
Thank you for your service Roy.
Forever a Tiger.
WaWaWeeWa, your point could not be better. If i could upvote it 100 times i would. Your post is a quality.

Tough crowd man. Not saying they will retire his jersey but saying a multi-year starter that will be drafted to the nfl is considered average or a disappointment is perhaps a bit out of touch. Gained more respect for him this year first just by sticking around after the turmoil and coaching change then by playing probably 80% of the snaps or more because of lack of depth.
Other posters have touched on it but a really good tackle may not put up a bunch of stats, especially if the defense is designed for them to hold their gaps and not be penetrators. I think he has pretty good measurables and if he does a good job of preparing for the combine he could be a possible 3rd rounder although likely a little lower.
I would agree that he would likely even be better next season if he stuck around but I just can’t fathom calling his career a disappointment. I also don’t think the career should be judged based on star ratings from recruiting. How did he produce while here and will he have a career in the league would be my criteria.

Bro, Orgeron didn’t rank and put stars by these dudes names. Be mad at Rivals, ESPN and 24/7.

I honestly thought he would be an AA type and dominate. He looked so good coming out of HS.
He isn’t a bust by any stretch but he wasn’t the guy I thought He would be and His legacy feels incomplete leaving this year.

Solid with steady improvement ( B ) I thought both he and Guillory were eventually going to develop into A+/- type level players when initially signed but even though I think he may have left a little potential growth on the table I'm still grateful for what he eventually provided this year.
