do you think he lived up to his recruiting ranking, I wish him all the success in the NFL but feel he didn't fully live up to the hype he had around him

hype?

the guy played every damn snap this year and played well, even worn out.

at some point on the talent level curve, your best ability is availability, and he's got it.

Sounds like a theme with Orgeron recruited players especially DL. None of them lived up to their hype even though he got a lot of solid production from them.

I think the OP was asking about his overall 3Y career production vs his recruiting hype.

IDK the answer but it's more than this season to be considered.

Became a quality SEC starter. Not sure on his draft slotting but I'd guess middle rounds. That's a mid to low 4*. That 5th will be determined in the NFL.

if Maason didn’t get hurt then he would have probably put up more stats. He did a lot of dirty work that allowed Wingo, Perkins, BJ etc make plays.

I'd give him a B. Very solid player. Not good enough to leave after 3 years in reality. He would be an A- with a 4th year of equal production.

It's hard for anyone to have much of a college career these days. Playing 3 years, 2 years as a starter, non all-american, non-1st round pick is just so common but it isn't really much of a college career. You really either need to be one of the best players at your position in the nation or you need to play 4 years/be a starter for 3 to really have an accomplished career.

An average career, with flashes of above average.

No man. He’s an NFL starter. His accomplishments fall a little short of his recruiting rankings, but not a lot. He is far better than average.

That the DL guru Orgeron sucked at recruiting more than he's given credit for

Not a knock on Roy he was a solid player but he among pretty much every DL Orgeron recruited never came close to their billing. Lack of personnel management, development, and identifying the real talent. That's why BK is scrambling trying to get the guys O let walk outside the state that ended up being good in the transfer portal. How much better would Roy be if he had multiple years under Cain and BK? That's what you have to ask yourself because you could argue all O ones recruited underperformed relative to their talent.

Meh.

Mean no disrespect, but he was average to slightly above average...

Solid. Just solid. Never a splashy player just performed his duties and did his job. Maybe the NFL will put him in the right position to show out, or maybe he will become a solid player like he was at LSU.

Players like Jaquelin Roy aren’t the problem. We could use 10 more of him. Players like Eli Ricks were.

Thank you for your service Roy.
Forever a Tiger.
