Says half the callers to Local OU talk show about Big 12 expansion would like the Sooners to go to SEC.

I live in OKC, and the opinions are fairly split. What most really want is to save the Big XII, but many see and accept the writing on the wall.

It'd be a hell of an addition to an already proud conference full of tradition. I would welcome them with open arms. It'd also make the Big 12 basically the American Conference + Texas.

If they do come Auburn and BAMA or just Auburn is going to have to move to East. You can't keep loading up the West.

no... Oklahoma isn't southern, low population therefore little revenue to be made... bring on UNC, Duke, Virgina or Va Tech...

They'd probably invite someone else from the east. West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Virginia, NC State...etc. One of those four would jump at the chance.

Texas
We get rid of the West/East and have 4 divisions. How those are decided is a whole different thread (been discussed numerous times).

Just kidding bout Texas. I feel like if we got Oklahoma, we'd try snatching a team from the ACC or atleast team east of the Mississippi River but south of Kentucky/NC. Hope we don't get an outlier. Like how the big 12 added WVU

Move Bama and Auburn to the east, Mizzou to the west. After that who knows they can add to the east for #16

Texas will never join a conference where their influence could be counterbalanced by an equally well funded Alabama.

Plus the hatred shared amongst aTm/Horns makes it impossible.

I'd be willing to say yes to OU if that moves Bama & Auburn to the East with Missouri sliding into the West

What other university would join OU in the SEC? Miami? FSU?

Heck, SEC could add S.Fla or UCF and still come out on top especially in TV market share

IMO the best case for the SEC from a money standpoint is UNC and Virginia.... I mean you are already the best football conference but this move moves you toward the best basketball conference as well.

Doesn't make sense at all. Hell the Big "12" has "10" right now as it is.

Oklahoma makes up for their low population and small regional market with a national brand name and decades of tradition. They're a blue blood program. Telling Oklahoma "no" would be stupid. It'd build up the SEC (even more) and be a devastating blow to the Big 12.

Four teams, four divisions - SEC playoff - Think about it. OU, A&M, Ark and LSU on one division, Bama, Auburn, Ole Miss and Miss. State in another division. Missouri, Kentucky, Vandy and Tennessee in another division. Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and (add one like Virginia Tech) to the fourth division. Two divisions always face one another with rotating opponents from the other two divisions. Semifinal precursor to the SEC title game. I should get paid for this. Vote me commissioner and I'll make it happen.

If I recall correctly, Oklahoma was the first choice last time the SEC expanded. The problem was Oklahoma and Oklahoma State is joined at the hip due to the state's politics.

Not sure if serious?

I'm not sure what Oklahoma's population really has to do with generating dollars for the SEC. I completely understand the lack of a TV market, but at the end of the day, OU is a well respected program with very solid football and basketball programs. These programs generate the funds the SEC needs. Having Vandy or MSU in the conference but telling OU 'no' is just mind-blowing.
