I can tell you LSU has recruiting advantages and by extension now - transfer portal advantages, that most schools could only dream of having and a coach would have to be borderline incompetant not to finish in the top 15 in recruiting.
In addition to the one's always mentioned - talent in Louisiana being as good or better than any state in the country and the influx of talent on the I-10 corridor close to home, the only Power 5 school in the state, etc.
But also what Sam Nader started and created as far a recruiting relationships has always led to an almost seamless transition between coaches. Folks who don't know the foundation he set should learn of it, he was very instrumental in LSU becoming the recruiting powehouse it has.
Having said all that to say Les would have done well - he was at LSU.

He would have had QB and WR recruits running away from the program

Miles put shitloads of WRs in the NFL and most got rave development reviews from scouts and coaches. Do you really think they were all too dumb to realize his MO when they committed?

Well. Recruiting was never his problem. Look how many elite NFL receivers he signed with a dreadful passing game

Pretty good. Recruiting was his forte.

LSU has always been a good team in need of a QB, much like a race car needing a driver. Miles brought in Mettenberger and Etling.
But it wasn't just Miles; Orgeron had to get Burrow. Kelly had to get Daniels.
Back to Miles. As stated, he brought in Mett and Etling, as well as the Penn State guy who never played. If he had the portal, guarantee that list would be bigger. Any Mett/Burrow type (good QB who doesn't win the job) will look at LSU, to see if we have that hole to fill again. Because if he can walk in and take the job, he's going to win a lot.

There would have been a lot more receivers taking the John Diarse route.
As well as Flynn in all probability.

Thank God Jesus and Mary that he's not here for us to find out

Les would have done just fine. He was at LSU and did a good job of bringing in good talent.
He won 93 games his 1st 9 seasons here. THat's 5 top 10 finishes and 2 SEC Titles. Won a Natty and played for a 2nd one.
Would he have done better? Maybe. What would the 2011 team have looked like with a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick as its QB?
We win that Natty. Maybe. And then what momentum does LSU Football have after that?
People shite on Les as a coach a lot and, to some degree, rightfully so. There were times where he earned it with some of the dumb stuff that went on.
But dude went 93-24 his 1st nine seasons.

Why?
Because he only won 114 games at LSU?
Because he only won 63 SEC games?
Because he only won 2 SEC championships?
Because he only won 1 National championship
Because he only won 77% of his games at LSU?
Because he only produced 10 All Americans?
Because only 69 of his players were drafted by the NFL?
Yeah that's a pretty shitty record isn't it?

5 or 6 Natties… Governor of Louisiana after stepping down from LSU.

Les would have lost almost every high end WR that he lied to get them here if it were easy to transfer.

Because he didn't have ANY WR's make it to the NFL?

And, in fairness, we would have much better RBs.
God, it was fun as hell having a RB that would make their arse quit.

Yeah no doubt he could recruit. Now the question is how many top guys transfer OUT under Miles and the offense? I have a feeling he would have lost many top guys to the portal had it existed back then.
This was the very first thing I thought of. How many top recruits would we have lost?

Les Miles would have done about as well as Jimbo
