He would have dropped into zone gave up some yards but not nearly as aggressive and we would have won

We wouldn’t have had the turnovers or the sacks but we would have won the game

Kevin Steele coached the defense against Texas Tech.

It wouldn’t have been the numbers we gave up, but we started a Nicholls State corner against an air raid with a lot of talent.

Pelini’s salary automatically opens him up to a lot of heat, but I think it’s pretty insane to just write him off after one game

This will be one of the idiots who will continue to pump up Bo even if he never improves the defense from Saturday and we lose a bunch of games bc of it.

Did you miss the offseason?

We had a serious personnel problem. Scheme was only part of it.

Looks like the consensus is we would have won.
So, it's scheme now NOT the lack of returning players, players leaving early, players opting out, etc etc etc

nda couldn't slow down Texas or Vandy so he wouldn't come close to slowing down Leach with a very good, experienced qb? Aranda sucked. We wouldn't have touched their qb more than 2x.

he shut down lincoln riley and clemson though.

Of all the things aranda did well, adjusting mid-game was absolutely not one of them. I doubt

2017 vs Auburn.

23 points in the first half. 0 in the second.

Zero adjustments. Clearly.

Idk if we would have won or not, but I do know even though Aranda has a scheme he prefers, he was willing to adjust it to better support the players if they struggle in it or the offensive calls called for it.

So far (one game sample size) it looks like Bo is gonna run what he likes even if the defensive players and offensive play calling aren’t suited for it.

I’m not pumping up Bo. He and the rest of the staff failed miserably. We were not well prepared, and we got out coached on both sides of the ball. I would say with some certainty that if this continued Bo won’t be here next season.
But we gave nine games, hopefully ten games left, and three months to change up what we all saw Saturday.

Better for sure. But LSU still gets carved. Zone requires pretty good communication and chemistry. Ward not practicing and Evans being new is just a killer. They wouldn't have had time to practice it during the week.

I agree. I felt like we just werent ready more than anything. You can implement alot of different coverages when your players have practiced them a ton and know what to do. Zone also requires knowing your assignment and man coverage is alot easier to run when you can just tell your players to stick on this or that player.

- Flott played out of position
- Ward hasnt practiced
- Evans stepped foot on campus 2 weeks ago
- Ricks did well for a true freshman

You dont have alot to work with after that. If experienced players last season complained about Arnanda's schematic over-complication, how do you think any of those green players would have done?

At some point he probably would have realized leaving our secondary out to dry by playing man isn't a good idea and would have run some zone.

it kills me to compliment who Im about to compliment but you just do what Chavis did vs West Virginia in 2011, you hang back and wait for them to get to the 20 at which point their offense doesn't work anymore because the field got too small.

after that you stand there and watch their 7 WRs run into each other because theres no where to go.

Peterson could have guarded half of them by himself.

they had 550 yards of offense.

they scored 21 points.

whats annoying is that none of this is some secret, theres a reason only outlier programs run the Air Raid, if it were as great as we made it look a team with tier 1 talent would run it and score 300 a night.

I'd guarantee he would have made adjustments after halftime like he always did.

Would have won but not bc he was a better coach I can't say that yet. He would have had everything instilled already and covid would not have had as large of an impact imo

we really only ever ran press man cover 1 with Aranda so I will guess press man cover 1.

Did you watch the OU game last year? Lincoln Riley is a Leach disciple.

Apples and oranges. Jalen Hurts is not as accurate as Costello and Riley adapted his offense to fit better with Hurts’ talent. Also, Riley incorporates more runs in his offense, He’s often lauded for his innovative rushing concepts. Aranda also had Fulton, Delpit, Queen, Lawrence, Phillips and Chaisson defending OU.
Aranda’s D was torched by Texas, Florida and Ole Miss. His incredible scheme had Stingley playing press coverage vs Devonta Smith in the final moments of the Bama game...Boom! That almost set the table for a Tide comeback ala John Chavis..
