Splitting ucla and usc is a must
UCLA should be a win at home

I’m still a little nervous about dline and really defense in general

Pretty much everyone expects this to be a high scoring game, for obvious reasons...

With that being said, watch it be a slop fest and someone wins 24-20 or something. Hopefully with us coming out on top.

Toss up. Defense is probably not going to be good again.

LSU and USC going into 2024

Roster, roster holes, new position coaches, etc are very similar.
New starting qb, new DC, good offense, shite defense, 3rd year HC

This right here! BK needs to break this “habit,” if he ever wants to compete for championships as he states. It puts us behind the 8-ball from the starting line.

Way less concerned about this one than most of the games that follow.

$C under Riley is soft.

If the new NCAA game is any indication:

Opening series vs USC

1) block in back on kick return
2) false start on first play
3) Nuss Int near mid field
4) force 3 and 11….Greg Penn burned by TE for 37 yard TD

Doesn’t bode well and clearly it’s a video game. I just thought how the way it transpired seems like a way LSU could open the game based on past two openers.

Not great. Not horrible.
The implications aren't as serious if we lose, but that shouldn't be the standard. Kelly going 0-3 in openers would look awful. I think we have a more put together roster and the difference maker will be our O-Line. People don't realize how much a stellar O-Line does for a new QB like Nuss. I think the run game will also start really hot and Kaleb Jackson has an impressive game. Defense is really hard to tell at this point. I would like to say we come out and dominate but I'm gonna put my feet back on the ground and say that we struggle. I think Swinson and Womack will be upgrades at Edge, and our LB core will be overall better. I just don't really know what to expect from secondary. I would like to see Kylie Jackson play a good bit. Hoping someone steps up there. I can see Toviano stepping up

I feel like I can’t expect a win until we prove that we won’t play like a bunch of pussies week 1

that AND that!!! i was living in cali during that 2003 year and i've been waiting for this game for a long time. can't wait to fly out to vegas.

I'm done getting my hopes up for the opener. I think we should win but I have thought we should win the opener the past 4 years as well and we all know the results.

My heart says 45-31 LSU

My fear says 38-35 USC

But can they be average? Thats all I ask. Just get win 3rd and long situations and we will be avaerage.

Kelly media days quote:

So the challenge this year for us going into the off-season was to make the kind of strides that bring our defense up to the standard necessary to play for a championship.
We feel like we've done that. Obviously we've got a little bit more work to do with our pre-season and our opener will certainly test us when we open up against USC in Las Vegas, a game we're certainly excited about.

Well I guess I'm ridin' then!

Feed Kaleb… and keep feeding him… there D is pretty weak already so wear them down in first half and then bust out the deep passing game in second half…

USC will score points. Hopefully Nuss can score more.

I don’t see the defense making a huge improvement from last season this soon.

But CBK has shown he sucks in openers

So he forgets how to coach for the opener but figures it out as the season progresses? Ok.

this is the difference. both defenses are below what fans hope. both offenses are exactly what fans hope for. however, be prepared to curse at the screen a few times...this will not be a blow out.

LSU oline and Kaleb pounding the trojans are the difference.

but WTF do I know......

Some of you make me LOL. Worried about a team that Toolame beat on a neutral field (when the Trojans had a Heisman at QB)?
