Berry to DH

Doughty to 3B

Merrifield 2B

This seemed like the way to go after the first few games.

Lineup won’t matter if we continue to give up 8-9 errors every game.

THIS, and pitchers who can't pound the corners. Sloppy DEF puts way too much pressure on an inconsistent pitching staff, Money excluded.

ETA: Or Merrifield at 2B. If Thompson can’t figure out how to make routine plays you have to look at Bianco at SS.

Since Thompson seems to be one of our biggest issues defensively, I’d say any “fix” starts with him not being at SS.

Morgan to OF
Berry to DH
Joubert to 1B
Doughty to 3B
Bianco to 2B

Morgan will probably be in the OF at the next level.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner.

That’s what I think we should be trying because Merrifield was a good 2nd baseman. And doughty was good at third last year.

But RF with Berry is the other concern he cannot track a ball very well. Now the astros stadium is harder than any college baseball stadium so maybe it was just that.

If Thompson can’t get short figured out then I’d move him to 3rd and Doughty to SS

I don’t disagree that Morgan will probably move to the OF in the majors but he is very valuable at 1B I don’t want to move him unless Berry or Jobert are actually secretly fantastic at scooping at 1B. Which is doubtful.

His contact is just so much different than milazzo. Just needs to be in the lineup consistently

Berry is a 1st baseman trying to play outfield and third base

We need to keep Joubert in the lineup.

The only way to do that, and put Berry at DH, is for Joubert to play 1B or OF.

Joubert in RF is an option, too, while keeping Morgan at 1B.

Dugas- 2b
Berry - 1b/dh
Jobert/ Blanco- 1b/dh
Milazzo- c
Thompson - as
Gio- lf

Bianco is useless with the bat..

He has proven he can hit - he just needs to be consistent. The rest of the lineup can pick him up, but at this point we need his defense. If it doesn't work, at least you tried.

The lineup I would make:

1. Morgan 1B
2. Gio CF
3. Crews RF
4. Berry DH
5. Doughty 3B
6. Bianco/Merrifield 2B
7. Dugas LF
8. Thompson SS
9. Milazzo C

With the pitching rotation:
Friday - Money
Saturday - Grant Taylor (actually let him throw more than 2 innings)
Sunday - Hilliard
Weekday - Dutton/Floyd

Closer - Reyzelman

Our bullpen is stacked for any of these days as long as one of the three starters can manage 5+ innings.

I would have liked to see Berry play first at some point this fall/Summer to see if the transition would have been better suited for him and then move Morgan to the OF. But its too late at this point.

He probably will be in the lineup a lot over the next few weeks. Rumor is Milazzo hurt his knee in the UT game.

Gio is a singles hitter who strikes out a ton & is just ok on defense. Besides if they go a platoon route, Bianco isn’t who he’d be competing with, This is going to be an athletic, 3 outcome lineup & Gio doesn’t really fit that theme. He’s not an everyday player on a good team & this team has too many good players

It’s official. You just take a side that nobody is on to cause people to respond. Kudos to you but aren’t you a little old for that?
