How Much Will the Offense Have to Change with the Change in Personnel?

Do we stick exclusively with what we did in '19 and just accept there will be some growing pains or adjust some since Brennan ain't Joe and the RBs aren't CEH?

The personnel have similar strengths on offense, I see no reason to change it up too much.

The spring will determine if any changes need to be made. I’m guessing the offense will change a little with us running the ball a little more.
But the concepts will be the same, might have a few more play action shots due to this.
But the utilization of 11 Personnel will remain the same. May use 01 personnel more with the loss of Clyde to have the 5 best receiving options on the field when going empty like we saw against Oklahoma.

I agree, i think they can run the same thing and the personnel is definitely talented enough to execute it.

They’ll do what they need to do to win. If that means running the ball more then that’s what will happen. It seems their intention is to continue to be aggressive it and sling it though.
I’m more excited to see the defensive changes next year though.

I think Oline largely determines this. Lots of young talent but we are replacing 4 starters. Hines was a good young guard but how good of a center will he be? We are strong at both guard spots. Rosenthal improved as the year went on but will he need time to play OT at high level? He looks the part. Charles leaving early stings. We knew Cush would go but I was selfishly hoping Charles would stay. RBs and receivers are studs. Brennan is capable of running the same style offense if the Oline gels quickly. Also, think coach E will use similar scheme even with Brady gone.

I think a good measuring stick to see the change is look to Alabama with Tua vs the offense with Mac Jones of this past season.

uhm...how are we supposed to know that?

Likelihood is there will be an adjustment for the fan base as we go from 49 ppg to 56 ppg this season.
But just breathe. It's gonna be ok.

I watched the Iron Bowl and I really didn’t feel like Bama changed too much. They were letting Mac Jones throw the ball down field quite a bit.
I feel like the same will be true this year for us. They are going to cut Brennan loose. I think he’ll do just fine.

They did let him throw it a lot, but they did run the ball more than when they had Tua.

You've been on here long enough (by far) that you should know better than to ask that type of question on here if you want a legitimate, educated answer. Good luck though

We def need a back to emerge as a pass catcher/pass-pro strength in the offense but I think a lot of CEHs targets will go to our new and super talented tight end. I loved Moss but this guy is regarded as one of the top TE recruits in the last 20 years. As far as the rest of it we’ll have a lot of familiarity. You’ve got Chase, Marshall and others who’ve had experience coming back like McMath so we’ll be fine there. And anyone who’s followed Brennan closely since we signed him knows that reports say he’s got next level study habits to go with the arm talent and with 2 years of shadowing Burrow I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of doubters.

I know.
But it's what we do. Sit around and ask questions, debate concerns, and voice opinions about stuff we're expressly under-qualified to speak to.

Only thing I think will change is that we won't see Brennan run much. everything else should remain close to the same.

I worry more about the coaching end. Ensminger will/may need some help and all his help from 2019 is moving on. Maybe "E" is ready to take control w all the success in 2019. It's one of the great unknowns for 2020. I'm sure LSU will be potent offensively. Guess we'll know soon enough. I do know replacing NFL caliber players at the most skilled positions (QB, RB, WR, and TE) is going to be a challenge. Ensminger will earn every nickel if he does well in 2020. Good luck w that! He's making close to $1MM/year so more power to him!

Our running backs know exactly what they have to work on....picking up blocks, catching the ball out of the backfield, running routes like a receiver, and carrying Bama defenders 10+ yards to the sticks with the game on the line.
But for real, I doubt we change much. Definitely have to find a RB who can do the receiver parts that CEH did because you have to be able to run the offense without subs to take advantage of mismatches and catch teams off guard. We ran the offense similarly when CEH wasn't in the game. Obviously we took off the gas when Brennan was in, but there were some promising drives where we threw the ball with him and he looked fine. After a spring and summer with the receivers, he will be fine. Having guys like Chase, Marshal, Racey, Curry, Davis-Price, Emery, along with the new stud freshmen...that'll make his life easier than most first year starters.
