$5M per year for 3 year contract. Load it with performance bonuses

Graduation rate above 80%- $100K
SEC West Champion- $100K
SEC Champion- $300K
Playoffs- 200K
Win Semifinal- 200K
Win NCG- $200K plus salary moved to $6.5M for 5 years, or, avg salary of the 3 highest paid coaches for 5 years, whichever one is the highest. Great bonus and raise for winning it all.

That would be $5M plus $1.1M if he wins it all plus the incentive to make him one of the highest paid coaches in the College Football. The top 3 now are:

Saban- $7.1M
Harbaugh- $7M
Meyer- $5.9M

What ever Herman wants Herman will get. Just get it done! Because I believe the Jimbo pain train has moved on down the track!

Herman just got bumped to 3 million after his first year since he did so well. He's off to a great start again, and kept OSU's offense firing. He's a talent that should be priced at 5 million. Regardless if Houston joins the University of Texas conference. I just don't see much luster going that route, unless he takes the Bobby Bowden path of least resistance. If Herman doesn't take it, it will cost upwards of 7 million to get Fisher. I just don't see us going that high for anyone solely because of what happened last year with the politicians stepping in. If we don't get Herman, then I feel it's an unknown commodity.

Edited to add some info on Tom's bonus situation:

"These days, Houston hands Herman $3 million per year, and he's in line for a $2.5 million raise in each of the first two seasons Houston plays in a Power 5 conference."

I like frank, but can't imagine why anyone would want to turn over the entire LSU program to him.

That would just be strange.

From his resume alone, he deserves 6 mill flat with incentives to make him the highest paid coach if he wins a natty.

Stop acting like this guy doesn't deserve that money

$8 mil is crazy. Saban doesn't even make that.

If Herman is interested, we should offer $5 mil with lots of performance bonuses and raises.

Gotta give him incentive and make him earn it.

My understanding is that Tillman Fertita is connected to the UH program....I'm sure he could kick in enough to match whatever is offered by a bigger school...

I think Herman could be the best coach out there, but his resume as a HC is 1 year. That doesn't warrant being in the garbage/saban category.

Now, if we HAVE to pay that to get him in good, but it would be based on potential, not resume.

I came here to post about Fertita. He is the chairman of their board of regents I believe and is personally starting to put T Boone levels of money into the school. Big XII isn't even a discussion without his involvement.

UH as a school is on the upswing. If the Big XII bid happens, Herman won't be leaving for money.

We need to look at the net cost of miles + cam vs Herman + potential OC. With Herman, he only needs an assistant which should come at a discount compared to Cam's salary.

Five Million bonus if the Cougars join a Power 5 Conference. I don't think the Big 12 will offer. The Pac 12?
