How much money in media rights will the SEC lose if games are cancelled?

Won't ESPN have something to say about it.

Disney is reportedly on the phone with Sankey right now.
The loss would be about $200 million, maybe more, over the course of the ESPN deal.

You know ESPN has a bunch of lawyers combing through contracts right now.

It's not as much as we think. Louisiana is a poor state and not a big state. Some of you are too young to remember the Archer, Hallman, Dinardo years when LSU was not what it is now.

This is a dumb take. LSU is a national brand. LSU games averaged the 6th largest national viewership last year.

The state has absolutely nothing to do with the program and brand that is LSU. The state isn’t tied into the contract with the sec and espn. LSU is.

A helluva lot after LSU sues for damages. I'd like to be included on that class action lawsuit as well.

Yea, we can just go independent with space x funds.

DING..DING...DING! ESPN will definitely be on LSU's side because as people are saying, follow the money.

ESPN once specifically protected itself against losing LSU
An old SEC–ESPN media contract that became public through litigation actually listed the essential SEC schools by name ( including LSU) and provided that if one of them ceased being available, ESPN's rights fees could be reduced by 10%. If two or more disappeared, ESPN had even stronger remedies, including potential termination.
This was back in the mid-1990s. I would imagine given LSU's 7th highest TV viewership (probably higher now) - there would be a major clawback.
