Just remember we wasted a generational offense and JD5 on a defense that couldn’t break the top 100 …….grounds enough watching that train wreck. Sadly BK was already on borrowed time. Surprised people think this is new?
About a month ago I started putting 401k contributions into a Money Market (Treasury) Fund that is offered by our plan. I max it out each year over the course of each paycheck. I didnt touch the funds I'd been in for over a decade. I just have new cash going into "reserve" for a pull back.

Similar in my IRA to someone above me, exited some growth stocks that were pretty fluffy and went into 50% treasury fund and a few large caps that are more traditional.

Who knows, I've been right way less than I've been wrong! Ha!
No sorry hah - I actually just registered after lurking since I was a student at LSU in the mid 2000s. - I really liked this forum/board for a long time, especially during some rocky times in 2020. :geauxtigers:
I agree - I think having the LSP or even adjacent parish PD's (wanting overtime) coming would help. This is similar to Mardi Gras. To your point, having these individuals patrol with LSU PD (one LSU PD per team?), while BRPD focuses on traffic or exterior campus issues.
Just got this in my email:

Agreed - I believe the LSP will bring in a good presence appreciated by LSU fans and visiting teams. This trend is happening across the country and delivering really good results.

Pulsar Helium - Any Thoughts?

The last few months I've been very cautious investing extra cash in large caps / index funds given the all time high and P/E ratios.

I started to look around at different small companies doing interesting things that complimented space, semis/chips, future tech, etc. - I came across Pulsar Helium. Very interesting so far.

Here's their latest presentation: LINK

They have two helium exploration plays in the US and Greenland. So far, they've done a few test wells and have gotten 7-8% helium concentration, where usually 1% or lower is commercially viable. Acquiring acreage and making test well progress almost each month (per news)

Recently announced a partnership with Chart for a LNTP in September (this year).

Anyone have any thoughts here? It seems extremely interesting and a good candidate to be acquired once up and running by a SpaceX, Semiconductor Group, Critical Minerals Group, etc. Anyone professionally in this sector have any thoughts? I remember a few years back all the news about Helium shortages, etc.

Sounds like a cool project and nice you have a vision.

Regarding personal experience, if you think the area can have water drainage issues, the blocks will work better than the pad. Sheds (and equipment) placed on pads that are not leveled or elevated slightly can have water damage where the base meets the concrete.

40A should be plenty, unsure about the Sauna. Can you split it to two (2) 20s? Might help with some isolation on equipment and pleasantries.

Lastly, when you route your electrical, raise the junction box when it comes out the ground, don't go level (again referencing the drainage).

Windows on both sides for breeze/circulation, one of the best things I ever did.

You don't need to pull cable on the pad, but you'd want to put some conduit and maybe 2 ropes on either side that you can pull later on. We did that with an addition, and it worked perfectly.

The Louisiana 529 is great (minus the current issues). Depending on your employment and/or if you have a side-LLC, you can look into qualifications for a custodial IRA. This usually benefits business owners or self-employed individuals who go through a LLC.

Both offer tax benefits, but starting with the 529 max for deduction is the best advice once you get the child's social security number.
I agree here - the communication has been the tough part for us. Even if they could just do a re-route with web traffic to a page that has "FAQs" about the event such as "Here's what happened" "Data/Money is safe" "We have backups" etc

re: Engineering New Hires

Congratulations on your son getting a degree in something with merit. The basic courses for mechanical engineering do well across a variety of engineering practices, industries, and professions. Very adaptable with the current markets and AI trends.

To be blunt, most (not all) engineers out of college really are worthless from an experience/value standpoint. Their ability to generate work product or anything of merit is very limited.

Most new hires out of college are brought on to simply learn as they might show potential from an academic or personal standpoint.

Engineers and/or company leaders hire them to do a few things - field visits, repeatable functions (such as in a lab), data management/tabulations (excel sheets), junior project coordinator duties, and/or learning traditional software (hydraulic, civil design, etc).

95% of their college work will not be used. Everything these days is on the job training or application of codes/standards/company functions.

He should skip/avoid the generic "resume" submittals online as a primary avenue for job hunting and consider the network of his friends, family, or yourself. He's basically selling his future potential, work ethic, communication ability, and integrity. It's unlikely he will stay at this first company, and most professionals hiring know this, so there's a balance to be sought.

He should do research (if he hasnt) and atleast know a field/industry he's interested in. You don't have to love your job, but if you "like" it, going to work is easier.

Does he like aerospace? oil and gas? refining? does he have an interest in marine/shipping? Does he like manufacturing? Does he like construction or industrial building? -

Once he has a field or two, I'd work on a great personal letter, update his resume to cover what he's done but what he's trying to do (work hard, learn, be a resource, be a good employee, help absorb information), and be open to unique needs/opportunities. Consider going to a few job fairs, industry-related conferences, or even speaking to professionals who are engineers/project managesr/executives to see their thoughts.

I'd also consider getting a good reference set. Not just names/numbers, but have a few letters written already.
