Stay with Jimbo despite his monstrous buyout?

I think they still believe that #1 recruiting class of all time will rescue Jimbo.

I pray he stays for the length of that contract and somehow they give him an extension.

They've got to be manufacturing "for cause" behind the scenes. Even if they don't have super strong grounds, do it anyway, let him sue, and then settle out of court for way less than $95m.

He will do the fire coordinators move this year which will buy him another year. He will start the season saying they brought in this new guy with new ideas blah blah blah then he will eventually go back to what he has been doing the whole time because he is not one to just give up control.

Fingers crossed they’ll extend his contract.

Jimbo doesn't look well.
As much as the aTm situation is entertaining, I think it would be in everyone's best interest to settle the thing. Give Jimbo some huge, but reduced, settlement, and call it a day. Call it an amicable parting of ways.

A few days ago Finebaum said something to the effect of "they can't afford to fire and they can't afford not to fire him...and the latter doesn't seem as ridiculous as it did just a few weeks ago." I actually agreed with this.

They could just muddle along for a few years if they at least had the 8&4 experience. But this is an unmitigated disaster that will cost them even more if it continues.

If you fired him now, you would be in panic mode which doesn't foster good decisions. Changing coaches now would probably blow up the roster anyway. So I think they give him what he wants/needs to salvage things for next year.

This will buy you time to get your shite together. First, they've got to decide if they will stick with the AD. Know they were all in alignment on the contract, but how do you continue with the admin that brought you this?

I think his ability or inability to hold last years class together will be the make or break for him next year when the Univ will have to decide Jimbo's fate.

They played alot of Freshman this year so, IF he can hold it together, they could be competitive next season, and resume being 8&4. Their 2023 schedule is not very good.

If it's a mass exodus like some are predicting couple with a mediocre class this year, He Gone!

If they have the money they say they do all the time, then they need to can him sooner than later. Or maybe they are full of shite and shot their wad on last year’s class? I hope it’s the latter and they keep his sorry arse there.

I don't think he fires Durkin. He's done ok this year. Beyond that I agree with your post.

Jimbo will hire an OC in name only but he's not giving up his offense. It's amazing that he's still defending his coaching.

There are literally 100s of OCs that could field a more functional offense than Jimbo.

Never thought he was great but never expected him to fully implode.

He sounds exactly how Les sounded at the end of his time.
