My interpretation is that the media members think several other teams have more talent than lsu. They aren't degrading a player because of the head coach. That is absurd. If you want to say they are ranking us poorly as a team, because of O, then ok.
Again, I never said anything about degrading players because of coaches. Seems you're taking things from posts of someone and attributing them to everyone that is engaging you in this discussion.
For me...again..it's as simple as this. Media members all-SEC teams are not a legitimate barometer of relative talent. Like our takes it's subjective and opinion.
I have no idea their motivations for doing so nor do I care and they don't factor into my perception of relative talent. I do know having seen their track record with pre-season predictions I don't give them much credence.

Bama and UGA have more talent than LSU. That’s it
Posted on 7/22/18 at 11:46 am to Tiger Ugly
Just for reference, LSU had 7 on the preseason teams last year, Georgia had 8, and State had 2.
Is LSU less talented this year than last year?
If LSU and Georgia had the same relative talent last year, why were the season outcomes so vastly different?
If State had so little talent last year how did they beat us by 30?

There are no trap games if you take it one game at a time.

Lol. According to sec media preseason picks:
Bama - 14
Ga -. 12
Auburn - 9
Fla-. 7
Missouri - 6
Lsu -. 5
State -. 5
A&m. -. 5
Sc. -. 5
But yeah, Lsu is more talented than all but bama
So the media's picks are accurate now? I'm confused.

State finished 2 games behind us in the west. Ga lost to Auburn regular season, and played in weaker division...

Everyone keeps saying uga is on some other level talent wise. Go back all 4 years before this past recruiting class and LSU is actually ahead of UGA recruiting wise. UGA is not putting a team full of true freshmen out there this year. Those guys will get some playing time and some will even start, but those guys are not all going to be huge difference maners this upcoming season. Bama is the only team with a talent advantage over LSU IMO in the SEC.
247 Composite Recruiting Rankings for the last four years:
LSU: 5, 2, 7, 15 Avg: 7.25
Miami: 27, 22, 12, 8 Avg: 17.25
Auburn: 8, 9, 9, 12 Avg: 9.5
Ole Miss: 17, 5, 31, 31 Avg: 21
Florida: 21, 12, 11, 14 Avg: 14.5
Georgia: 6, 6, 3, 1 Avg: 4
Miss. State: 18, 28, 24, 27 Avg: 24.25
Alabama: 1, 1, 1, 6 Avg: 2.25
Arkansas: 22, 23, 27, 49 Avg: 30.25
Texas A&M: 11, 18, 13, 17 Avg: 14.75
Southeastern, La Tech, Rice: Didn't bother
Based on talent alone, can we agree on the following?
1. LSU should lose to Alabama and Georgia
2. Auburn is a toss up.
3. LSU should beat the rest of the teams on its schedule.
4. We should expect a 10-2 season.
5. Anything less than 9-3 is a failure.
6. Our schedule isn't as difficult as some people think.

I have no idea if accurate. But for sure lsu isn't more talented than everyone but bama

I could totally see LSU beating Georgia then coming out flat against Miss St.

I'll keep coming back to this....all of this is subjective opinion when it comes to relative talent. The best barometer will be in four years when we can go back and see who makes NFL rosters from each of these teams and even that is not a full-proof barometer.
But I think we all can agree the more talented teams don't always beat lesser talented teams and some teams overachieve and some underachiev. One can assign whatever reasons for that whether it be coaching or anything else and that too is subjective opinion.

When will people like you ever get a clue? It is not how many people you send to the NFL. It is not how highly your recruiting classes were rated (just opinions by people you wouldn't trust for any other opinion).
It is who your starting lineup is. It is whether they are experienced and if so how have they performed in previous games. It didn't matter that Honeybadger was rated a 3 coming out of high school or that he was maybe going to be too small to play NFL. What mattered was that we saw that guy make amazing play after amazing play.
If you insist on using people going to the NFL then assess how many games were won simply because they were on the field. If you want to use high school recruiting assessments then use it on starting lineups and maybe two deep. At least then you are applying it to the people who are really playing.

Effort and the mentality of the players is something that is almost impossible to measure but it sure does influence some games. I thought Notre Dame beat us because they wanted it more also.

Georgia and bama are stacked
Lsu is just beneath them. With good coaching they can be beat with the talent LSU has.

Obviously the recruiting rankings are way off.
Generally speaking there is a lot of disparity in the rankings once you get by Bama and Ga.

Well, if you look at the NFL draft a few months back, LSU finished tied for 2nd with the most players drafted. Bama was the only team that had more players drafted. And LSU had a ton of guys signed as undrafted free agents. Bama is the only team head and shoulders above LSU due to the combination of talent and coaching.
