If going into this baseball season you were told that LSU was going to finish 5th in the SEC, not win the SEC Tournament, barely be awarded a Regional as the #13 seed, back into a Super Regional and then get swept in it by a team which was one of the last teams selected to the NCAA Baseball Tournament?

Is this the success LSU is after? What about how the season went in 2018?
Is this a trend you think LSU should embrace?

Yes. Very disappointing season. He better get the lead out of his ads and get to Omaha. 3 straight years of no CWS won't cut in BR.

Making it to Super Regionals is supposed to be disappointing?

The biggest sore spot with me is that LSU constantly beat itself this season with terrible fundamentals on the mound, at the plate, and on the base paths. This is a COACHING problem more than it is a player problem. Those blaming the players need to understand that it was the COACH who recruited them. The problems this season have been brewing slowly over the past few seasons and seem to have entrenched themselves in the final product on the field. It is time to clean house.

In a vaccum, not necessarily. This year? Yeah, anything short of Omaha this year was always going to be a disappointment IMHO.

Am I also being told that we would have a starting catcher who was hurt for half the season, three pitchers who due to injury did not throw a single pitch all season long, two starting pitchers who missed months of time, another starting pitcher who missed multiple starts, and our four hole hitter have an obvious wrist injury most of the season?

If I was given all of that information at the start of the season, then yes, I'd be very happy with how we finished up.

How did we back into a Super Regional? We had one of the toughest regional draws didn’t lose a game.

This makes no sense. Only LSU wants to win. Every other team is supposed to roll over and lose for us, because we are LSU, dammit! They are supposed to look at our history from 20-30 years ago and just not even try. Kinda like how basketball teams are supposed to treat UCLA.

We twice beat a Southern Miss team that was insanely hot and would not go away.

This team's season was defined by one bad weekend in Austin Texas.
LSU got swept by a team that couldn't even make the Big 12 conference tourney.
The walks and inconsistency of the pitching staff showed that no matter how high you are regarded as a pitching prospect, it takes time and you don't come into big time college baseball already ready for the big stage.
Not having a lefty on staff was a concern PM mentioned at his preseason media day. It would have been nice to have a lefty for the situation that cost you a 4 run lead against FSU, a lefty who hit a homerun to change the entire series. Not to mention FSU had a lefty to counteract the lefty lineup LSU had out there all season. The only righties in the lineup, Watson did not have a great year at the plate, Garza only did well at the end and Hughes was a non factor to help balance the lineup.

There's a reason why top-round HS draftees spend a few years in low-level minor league baseball. 18/19 year old pitchers can be absolutely amazing at times, but are inconsistent, both as they adjust to the length of the college season, and to college hitting.
