First off, regardless of whether our fandom is no longer as fanatic as before - the harsh reality is that the regular season is no longer important. The Conference Championship games are no longer important.
That championship tournament, currently involving 12 teams is important.
The talk is to expand the field to 16 teams? That will render the regular season more like the NFL Pre-season.

I feel the same way about Las Vegas and New Orleans. Money seems to ruin everything. The greedy just can't leave well enough alone.
Sad, really.

Starts with the face of the franchise. Ours sucks and isn’t appealing to the younger crowd, he’s more of a laughing stock to the younger crowd with all the cringe crap he does. I totally understand why they don’t want to play for him….coach o appealed to them. They should have gotten better at the coordinator positions.

More games late in the season actually have meaning now because of the expanded playoff. Conference title games give huge incentive to either get in the playoff or get a bye in the first round.

I’ll always pull for LSU no matter what, but yeah, I’m about done with CFB. Honestly never thought I’d feel this way, but I mean, what’s to follow? I’m surely not investing much of anything in players who may or may not be here next year or thereafter. It’s just not that interesting anymore for me personally.
Again, I’ll always pull for LSU when they’re playing. I’m just not that into CFB anymore. They ruined it.

Disagree. DIFFERENT games have meaning, but not more. The SECCG doesn’t mean much this year except to see which team gets to blast someone at home in round 1. The “big” game is SMU-Clemson. B1G title game would be a play-in for the Final 4 in years past…but now, just to see who gets seeded where. That’s not nearly as big of a deal as determining your fate.
More games are not meaningful, just different games.

And you can add legalized gambling and the ease to do so. It can make you wonder sometimes if a game is on the up and up.

I’ll still watch and pull for LSU. The games are still fun for me, but no question my affection has cooled. I am not nearly as invested.
I'm still not sure if my decline in interest is due to me getting older or due to the chaotic changes in college football. I remember being so nervous about games when I was a teenager. I would be depressed for a week if we lost a big game. But if we won a big game, I was on cloud 9. That's the part I miss.

It's not really something you can disagree on. It's math. More teams are fighting for more spots in the playoff. That means more regular season games matter late in the season. I could give tons of examples. Look at the Ole Miss - Florida game from 2 weeks ago. That would normally mean absolutely nothing, but this year it effectively knocked Ole Miss out of the playoffs.

I’m fed up with Kelly and yes, I’ve lost some interest. When Bama was running up and down the field on us and Kelly looked clueless….the $100 million man….its extremely frustrating. And it seems like there is nothing we can do but sit back and watch five more years pass and watch my team get embarrassed on TV, yes, that’s frustrating. Then, we get treated to a Pc where Kelly does nothing but lie, yes I’m frustrated.

Saban knew what he was doing and knew when to get the frick out!

That’s partially true but Saban was doing NIL before it was called NIL. When he was at LSU, he was putting some money out and at Bama he did the same.

Also, how bowl games have taken a back seat. Especially the expansion to 12 teams. It is getting more and more common for those going to the nfl to skip them.

College football's viewership won't fall off like NASCAR, but I think the viewers change. The long time rabid fans (like us on this board) will be replaced by more casual fans and people betting on games.
Just like the players and coaches losing loyalty, so will fans.
This will accelerate as the big money programs continue to become more dominant. At the same time, smaller programs will get less and less support. You will see their game attendence drop. People will become weary of watching the same teams play over and over again.
I have better things to do than watching UGA, Texas, Bama and Ohio State play. I mean, who cares.
The end result will be like NASCAR however. Big monied interests will water down the product and the spirit of a great American small market, home grown sport will be ruined. Phuck em.

I over slept and missed the first 10 minutes of the game Saturday. First time in my life. And I wasn't even mad.

I’m not racist but NIL is a total Afro - Centric scheme and a way to shake down the system. That being said my give a chit ratio is hovering over 5%

Traditional fans need a Donald John Trump to step up and lead,
by restoring sanity and common sense, teaching players the tried
and true principles of putting in the hard work to reap the great
personal rewards of Amateur Athletics, remove the graft, greed and financial poison that has infected the sport today, and
Make College Football Great Again,
for the players, the coaches, and the fans,
who compete, teach, and worship the sport,
as it has been, for more than a century,
